Looked at the Grillo today with the intension of sorting out parts for a service.

First thing I noticed was a flat tyre. Again. An even better look demonstrated that this is the same tyre that went down last time. And that this is the only remaining wheel running tubeless. Right. Need a tube.

Next thing I find is the right side drive chain is loose...again. Okay I'll sort that when I sort the wheel.

Let's get the tyre off the rim. Oh yeah that's right...tubeless tyre. No tyre irons. Engage clamp, a wrecking bar and a screwdriver. Five minutes of grunting, swearing, levering and the muttering of oaths and the tyre was off on one side...

Then I look for the oil drain for the engine...
16069733325041261909879.jpg oh joy oh rapture... still probably could have been worse.

Head into town to source filters. Find that I've fornicated the air filter OD measurement and have no idea which of two choices to order. Oil filter is in stock. So is the oil.

Grab a tube. That was easy. Putting it in is easy too. Getting the tyre back on the wheel...

Not so much. Hope I haven't pinched the tube...

Checked the measurements for the air filter and wonder what I measured in the first place (what a dick). Ring the shop to order the filter... it'll be there next week.

      And the adventure will continue...

UPDATE: there were nearly tears. Almost lost the valve stem when putting the air in. Tube tried to change shape and pull the stem in. I hung on grimly till I could get a locking pliers onto the stem...then it was fine.

There is something about lawnmower parts availability that’s always a pain. Everything has to be ordered and is strangely specific.

Good luck with the repairs though

@silentbutnotreallydeadly Does the old flaming tire trick work on tractor tires?

Probably. But you know what they say...the bigger the tyre, the bigger the bang. Given the tyre in this case is made in Slovakia, the mower is Italian and the operator is Australian...the resulting explosion could be uncomplimentary to my safety. Besides, it's a total fire ban day today!

Unless it's a John Deere apparently. Got a 95 GX75 for free from a friend that needed a little work. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to find parts for a 25 year old mower

@civicwagonengineer I've never owned one of them, owned a couple husqvarna and they're downright unpleasant to find parts for.

                      This is no understatement...
