MAX flew with media on board today
-
A reminder that this isn't the first problematic 737. Rudder system failures (probably) caused two fatal crashes and a third incident.
-
I hope someday we get automatic URL snippet generation like Kinja had.
-
@just-jeepin will probably be the safest plane in the sky now
Not that there will be much other choice really -

Yeah bb code doesn’t work either....hmmm -
-
@ClassicDatsunDebate Ah, no, sorry. You can do what you want with [url](text), but what I want is the auto-snippet thing that retrieved the headline and first part of the text of the URL into a box.
-
@just-jeepin gotcha.
-
@just-jeepin the 737Max (first flight in 2017) is the evolution of the 737NG (first flight 1997). Plus the Max issues were from MCAS

@boredalways I wasn't trying to imply the rudder problems had anything to do with the MAX, just that the MAX isn't unique in having teething problems in the 737 family line.
-
@just-jeepin but in the previous one, there were real pilots flying and it was really a problem. And this one, the pilots were not very experienced or well-trained.
-
@just-jeepin I'm optimistic about this, the amount of fuel efficiency they've been able to wring out of such an old design is pretty amazing. It might have been flawed at launch, but its still fundamentally a decent plane.
-
@pip-bip And, fortunately, the public tends to have pretty short memories about stuff like this, and be pretty forgiving. I grew up in Pennsylvania, where we had an issue with a power plant back in the '70s that made big news and caused it to be shut down for years of upgrades, but, eventually, it reopened and operated safely and reliably for decades until cheap fossil fuels finally did it in, and nobody bothered at all about it.

Working on it - we have a solution kinda working in the dev environment, but it’s not perfect. Still tweaking.
Also 20 months? Feels like it was not that long ago this all happened.
