I need your cheap bluetooth speaker suggestions
-
My JBL bluetooth speaker that my mom gave me kicked the bucket.
Please give me some suggestions <$50.A pic for your time.
-
@highlander I have no cheap suggestions as I've used a few sub $50 ones and they always sounded like garbage and the battery never lasted long. I finally sprung for a JBL charge 4 about 6 months ago and it both sounds great and the battery lasts forever. It is expensive though at ~$150.

@highlander I'd reccomend checking out your local FB marketplace for a used Wonderboom, Boom or Megaboom. I have a Megaboom which has a 20 hour battery life, is waterproof, and has taken many beatings.
I never go anywhere without it. Pricy new at $200USD

Isn't there an Ultraboom? Kudos to them for excellent marketing.

@highlander Any desired output? JBL has some little guys that put out decent sound for around that price. I have a charge 3 I have been happy with and have some friends that use the clip ons for playing disc golf and the like
-
@cb there was, top of the line now is the eye wateringly expensive Hyperboom for $500 CAD.
-
here's the one i have, it's pretty decent. Waterproof and it also has that clip so you can hang it from your hiking pack and drive all the other trail users nuts
-
@highlander Best I can say is they work, no issues.
Anker Soundcore 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker with 12W Stereo Sound, Bluetooth 5, Bassup, IPX7 Waterproof, 24-Hour Playtime, Wireless Stereo Pairing, Speaker for Home, Outdoors, Travel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTB55WH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_39C10F07BN439W011M6S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
But, since I got my Bose speaker, I haven’t turned this one on.

I want it.

@highlander we have a small wonderboom, works well, it was around 80 I think? Might be able to get one on sale at best buy. Their insignia brand isn't too terrible either, I'm ok with the one I have, albeit it is a tad on the tinny side, would like more low end.

@highlander
https://fugoo.com/I got the style one for around $50 on sale several years ago and used it for work conference calls before the zoom stuff was a thing. When not for work I used it on the job site to listen to music and while not the highest output it was super clear and never distorted. I gave it to the company when I left so I can’t really account for longevity but it was good for me for about 2.5 years.

@highlander
I too have the JBL one. I got it for @HUGZ for $100 a few years back, and it's great. We also have a little square iHome one for your price range that I think is pretty good for the money. I don't remember the model number. -
@carsoffortlangley My Original Megaboom just died (won't charge). Replaced with a Charge 5 and I like the Charge 5 sound quality better. Which, I should hope so since there's a half decade between them in development.

@highlander
JBL Clip is my suggestion... -
I got a Beats Pill that works great that I got for free in a company Xmas raffle. And in checking the prices, it's only... uhhh... CAD$250:
https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/beats-by-dr-dre-beats-by-dr-dre-pill-bluetooth-wireless-speaker-black-ml4m2ll-a/10398561But it works very well and sounds good.
I haven't tried very many bluetooth speakers. All I know is the one I have is very nice, small, has long run time and sounds good.
So my suggestion is just to bite the bullet and spend more on some decent.
-
@beefchips that's the one I have that broke.

@highlander Wirecutter has a budget pick for $37.

I've been using an original megaboom for....5 Years now? Still has great battery life and sounds as good as anything its size. Worth the price.
-
This one is by no means on par with JBL or Bose or Beats. But it sounds decent, is only $28, and I usually get 7 or 8 hours out of it in the shop at around 75% volume. It’s junk compared to the high end stuff others have listed, but if you’re looking for decent sound for cheap, I’ve been happy with mine.

@jminer This is what I was going to look at. Worth it?
-
@musashi66 I used one of these for work for a while, good value for $20, great battery life and loud enough to overcome road noise in an Isuzu NPR.
-
I’m hoping to find a deal on an older Sony XB7 (big ass BT speaker) for my garage, but so far I haven’t seen anything under 200$ used.
-
@Highlander +1 for the Booms. I still have the original that I bought...many years ago. Beat up and still plugging along. Their cheapest new one is $100 I think.
-
There are some speakers in your price range on Woot today.

I have an Anker soundcore, sounds much bigger than it should and their stuff is always good value. I see it's $60 CAD on Amazon.ca so fits your budget
