Looking for mobile tire mounting service in south Raleigh/Garner NC area
-
I ordered a set of tires for the Wrangler that my dad and I are working on in North Carolina, but because my Dad has a bad back he can't readily take the wheels off the Jeep and take them to a shop along with the new tires for mounting. I'm looking for a good mobile tire mounting service who can come to the house and get the new shoes on. I would do it but I'm 500 miles away and haven't been able to take time off work to road trip down there.
The Jeep is safe to drive on the road but isn't yet registered/insured/inspected. We just had the frame repaired and windshield replaced so once it has new tires it should pass inspection.
Anyone have any recommendations?

@atfsgeoff No suggestions here. I haven’t used that service before but I’m happy to toss it on my trailer and take it to a shop for him. I think he’s about a mile from me. Anything to help with getting new shoes on a TJ!

@atfsgeoff I just saw a van the other day on my way to work and I thought "Hah, fuck what a good idea." I believe it read "JACK Mobile Tire Installation"
-
@atfsgeoff He's not far from me either (I think we've discussed this before) but I don't know any mobile services. I do have a truck tho
-
@jeepoftheseus that would be awesome! I sent you a chat with my phone number
-
@atfsgeoff Are those wheels TJ Rubicon Moabs, and if so when did he get them?
-
@zaphod-s-heart-of-gold nah they are just 17" JK wheels. It has Hub adapters
-
@atfsgeoff They looked too flat to be the TJ 16s but I was curious if he was the guy that bought mine
-
@jeepoftheseus can he not lift them into the Jeep? If so, drive it to the shop to have the tires put on and get it inspected all in one swell foop?
-
@sovande you need it registered before you can drive it in NC but you need it inspected before you can register it. You can drive it with the title/signed and notarized dmv paperwork with you right after you buy it but I’m not sure what the grace period is.
-
@sovande I don't know if all four would actually fit in the Jeep, they're pretty big tires. They weigh 50 lbs each so he'd need to use a ramp to roll them into the back.

@atfsgeoff Highly recommend the mobile Tread Connections guys. They came and installed the tires on my A3, great work even used an actual torque wrench and asked what pressures to set them to. Great expereince.

I wish they were an option. I contacted them and they said they were just bought out by Spiffy, which has less than stellar reviews.

@atfsgeoff That explains it. Tread Comnection sponsored autocross in Charlotte and the triad (and the local owners participated), and I didn't see a Raleigh location on their website. Maybe the Greensboro folks would make the drive?
