Poker night tonight!
-
It's been a few weeks, but poker night is back at my place. Hoping to do much better than last time, where I was down quite a bit......
We joke how it's a fun "family" poker night, with most pots being a few bucks at the most. However last time I was down almost $100 on ONE HAND......... (I got burned repeatedly on a game of 'In Between' that I was dealing)
Anyhow - pizza, beer, the guys playing poker until about midnight is a great night in my book.
And yes, I have a 24"x36" print of this in my basement/mancave -

That pic is the perfect cap on your basement. -

Amusingly, I had the print before I remodeled the basement. Basically, I started with "Dogs Playing Poker" and built around it

In Between
Such a brutal game...
I love it.
Normally I do too - but not that night.......
I was bruised from repeatedly hitting the post

Only game we've played where one of my buddies had to break out his checkbook. LOL

@trivet
That is appropriate. -
A great time was had by all - but this happened early on a game of "guts"
Guts (probably has many other names) is a game where the first round everyone gets 1 card, next round 2 cards, and so forth - up to 5 cards. Then 4,3,2,1, and then back up again. After getting your cards (regardless of how many) Everyone holds their hand face down a few inches above the table - dealer counts down: "1,2,3,drop!"
If you think you have the best hand (an Ace or King is very good when you only have one card), you hold your cards. If you have crap, you drop. (unless you want to bluff, of course)Best hand wins the pot - everyone else that stayed matches the pot.
This round started with a dime ante (5 of us playing) so $0.50 pot to start. On the first hand 4 stayed - someone won $0.50, the rest of us put in $0.50 - pot is now $1.50. Then $3, then $9. It can escalate quickly.
You play until only one person stays in - they get the pot, game is over. This game can go 30 seconds or 30 minutes.......

It' can be brutal (not as bad as in-between, as you never have to double the pot), and you could drop on every hand so you would only ever lose your ante.....but with only 2 cards and holding a pair of Queens - you have to stay! Right?!?! (Spoiler: I was beat by a pair of Aces)
