Track daytona update
-
Woof....
so the track tuna died on me on the first lap, and then i bricked the ECU in tryng to upload a tune.
so I took it to a triumph specialist in the Ottawa region...this is what he found.
While I have no doubts AT ALL that i will be getting back a much faster, smoother, and more reliable bike....ouch.
(also super curious to see what it will make on the dyno....100WHP is super weak for one of these motors....specialist things he can get 120+)

@peter_black Worth it.

@peter_black You sure you don't want to blur that address and phone number?
-
@pos_camaro it's a nice looking neighbourhood
-
@pos_camaro I honestly dont care. feel free to call me
-
@samv8 oh yea, grew up in it.
but I dont live there anymore @pos_camaro
if you want to ship me something though, let me know XD
-
@peter_black wow, yeah... Pay to play, right?
-
@doodon2whls oh yea. it was a small issue that I fucked up and made bigger, and then LOTS of smaller issues found.
oh well. this is why we pay master technicians, right? Dude is pretty confident that he can squeak 120 RWHP out of that bike, which will be FAST
-
@peter_black Looks like they charged you for a dyno twice. Is that before & after? If so, what did it make after?
Also, how did the valve timing get borked in the first place? If somebody else had the engine apart to check valve clearances and just put it back together wrong that's one thing. If a gear or chain slipped that's a much bigger problem.
-
@nermal yes a before and after dyno. that was a quote/partial invoice. I will get the dyno sheet sat
there was also a HUGE vacuum leak with contributed
So, what happened is that the cam chain stretched a tiny bit and every so slightly retarded the timing.so what he is going to do is to advance the intake cam one tooth and leave the exhaust as it is. (slot the gear as well) he has done this to something in the range of 305, 40 bikes and ALL have made HP. either way. he is returning much faster bike

@peter_black As I'm reading it one of the issues was with the secondary air injection. All that does on a bike without a cat is make popping sounds off-throttle. Really should be disabled in the ECU & blocked off, it appears that's what they're doing.
A worn out timing chain / sprockets / tensioner can definitely screw up a lot of stuff. Are they re-using the old ones or replacing any of that?
-
@nermal the chain is just stretched a bit, its the same parts, just adjusted. for how often I use the bike, its more then fine
