Seats are back!
-
I bought new seat covers...forever ago. I had them installed which cost a crapton. The seats never fit right, they were too tight and causing my back to hurt. I bugged the crap out of the cover supplier until they sent me a new bottom. They did. It was also too small. My installer took what he could from one cover and the other to make one slightly bigger cover. The bottom was better, but not great. it was no longer basketball tight but still felt way too short. I went back to have them adjust it today and they told me to stick around while they did. 3.5 hours later in a tiny showroom with one chair I was back in comfort. They stretched the leather, took material out of the lumbar (which was a huge help) and moved around some foam. BIG difference.
So happy this ordeal is over. Too much money, too much time.

Worth it. A comfy butt and back is basically mandatory for anything you drive long distances/periods of time.

@hammerheadfistpunch Subtle changes by an expert can make all the difference - did it have that extra roll of foam for "lumbar support" that, in reality, just digs into your back as a big pressure point?
-
@derp Basically. When I took it to Moab and back a little while ago I couldn't sleep for a day or two after because of back pain traced directly to the seats. no beuno.

@ranwhenparked So when I took them in the first time, I asked them to work a little extra material into the bottom of the back panel because the land cruiser seats have a rod there that can dig into your hips when the foam is worn out. They did but they way overdid it, putting about 2 inches of foam that was not only pushing me out of my seat, but was also thicker on one side than the other, exacerbating the issue with the bottom cushion sloping down and away. The result was I felt like I was falling out of the seat AND misaligned in my hips and pointing a few degrees out from straight on.
I dropped it off last thursday and left it with them over the weekend. They fixed the bottom cushion issue but the back issue was still a problem when i picked it up Monday. I took it home and realized the problam and took it back this morning. They solved the unevenness of the foam but not the thickness (I was pointing straight but still feeling pushed off the seat.) A few hours later they had removed most of the foam so that the bar isn't there, but I gained 2 more inches of seat bottom. MUCH improved.
Truth be told I still would want more bottom cushion bolstering and about 1 more inch of seat bottom, but this is pretty much factory fit right now.

@hammerheadfistpunch said in Seats are back!:
Ah, I'm pretty sure I've been in Fords where the factory lumbar support was worse than nothing, like a pressure point at the bottom of the spine. Was wondering if it was a deal like that
-
@ranwhenparked kind of, yeah.

Victory! -
@hammerheadfistpunch but will the wrinkles fall out over time?!
-
@benjrblant it seems like I just keep getting more over time, not less...

seats are a good place to spend your money though. I wont ask you how much it cost, but how close to a pair of scheel-mann's was the whole ordeal? lol.
