Was repping Oppo at rallyX this weekend
-
when the boost kicks in hahahaI found a spot for another Oppo sticker
such an awesome weekend.
I’d been setting laps in the low 80-second range, but then remembered, “Hey, what if I look ahead on the course?” and set a 75.4 on my last lap, almost 6 seconds better than my previous best.
I was lucky enough to get external footage of my driving; will post that up soon once I have a chance to review it. Now that I’ve learned a bit better how to drive on dirt, I’m realizing the Camaro has a TON of potential in this application.
@i86hotdogs @Dusty-Ventures and the rest of Oppo’s rally population: any recommendations on what I should do next to learn more? I’m really enjoying rallycross.

@way2blu looking ahead is one of the last things i remember to do whenever i get back into autocross and also the one that makes the most difference
-
@cash-rewards it was a truly night and day difference. I’m hoping to put the footage my 2nd to last (81.0 seconds) vs my last (75.4 seconds) laps side by side to see where I was making up all the time.

Seat time is the best way to improve. Which means find a vacant place to practice without getting in trouble, or sign up for as many RX events you can.
Additionally, I always catch myself peeking at my mirrors when I think I might have hit a cone. I need to stop doing that and keep forward
-
@way2blu its also the most translatable to daily driving
-
@i86hotdogs I’m definitely aiming to maximize on seat time moving forward. One club local to me does an endurance-format rallyX where each participant gets their own 20-minute session. Big plans ahead
@Cash-Rewards Agreed! It’s really helpful in just about any driving situation. Heck, it helps in most aspects of life to look ahead and be proactive too.
