GoFundMe: Laptops for Salvadoran High School Students

I started a GoFundMe and I'm wondering if any of you would like to help me with this ongoing project. I have a relationship with a vocational high school in Arce, El Salvador: Colegio Arce Jeriel. I have been sending laptops and cell phones down for students and teachers to use. I have a batch of three that will go out in tomorrow's mail to a man in LA who is flying to El Salvador next week and he and his companions will deliver the goods. Whenever a friend or family member of my contact in Arce is making the trip, I send something down. This batch will make seven lappies so far. If you felt an inclination to lend me a hand with this, I'd be much obliged. This batch of lappies is oppo-shwagged, thanks to @Chariotoflove sending me some steekors.

Here is a picture of a high school senior who has received one of the lappies:

I can fluff up and send along any laptops -- Core i5 or higher, iPhone 6 or higher, or relatively recent Android phones, and send those along as well. If the GoFundMe raises more than its current goal, the project will be ongoing.

@rusty-vandura If you are still doing these, I still have 2-4 smallish (120-256GB) SSDs I can send you to upgrade anything that still has a spinning disk. Don't think you ever said where to send them when you asked before.

@facw I've been using the PC-3 SODIMMS you sent. I get a machine with a single 8 and an empty slot, and I replace it with a pair of 4s and then pump the next one up to 16.

@rusty-vandura Those weren't from me. No spare SO-DIMMs on my side (have some regular DDR3 DIMMs floating around, but that won't help with laptops).

@hillrat I know he said that, but a 3rd gen i3 is way faster than a 1st gen i7 and so on. So I figured I'd ask if there was a limit to that.

I have stuck thus far with Dell Latitude i5 and i7, though any i3 that you felt was sufficiently capable would be find with me. I go with the Latitude because they are robust, business-grade laptops and it's easy to configure Windows 10, get the drivers, et cetera. The last thing I want to do is send down a laptop that goes to some student or teacher and then soon croaks. I have an Inspiron Core i3 laptop that I use almost every day, but it has a flimsy keyboard and I'm here to take care of it when/if it borks. It's adequate for web and Zoom and such, but too flimsy. You know more about all of this than I do. Another thing I've made sure of is that they are PC3 or higher RAM standard.

As well, minimally, I make sure they are SSD, upgrade if necessary, and 8 gb of RAM. And an AC adapter that's the right one and in good shape.

Haha. I'm now 100% fine with that photo. Phobias are super weird.
