New Ducati Monster

Dropped
The bike has been redesigned for a lighter weight (-18kg over the 821) with a new frame, better ergonomics, and with the 937cc Testastretta 11 producing 111bhp. The bike replaces the plethora of Monster models: 797, 821 and 1200 and is simply called Monster.

If I didn't live in Metro Vancouver, I'd buy a bike.
-
Might be a more affordable alternative to an S1000R or Hypermotard I've always liked (maybe not for the guilty pleasure Busa or 80s sportbike). Now that I am in a lighter traffic area, who knows what might happen in the spring.
-
meh, another model for the hipsters.
-
I'd want to give this a whirl. I know some riders had an issue with the ergo and feel of previous one.
I think this is a big shift towards what the KTM 890 Duke R is. Shaving 40lbs off the bike is huge.
-
@exage03040 I found the prior one (basic design must have lasted 20++ years) to be comfortable enough. Not too small even for someone of my relative height and mass (6'1" ~200, depending) . One KTM-like thing I notice is the tank appears kind of tall - that can be annoying.
40 lbs will make up for the weight everyone is gaining via 'rona.
-
Nice Honda.

@exage03040 This is the motorcycling equivalent of high-waisted mom jeans. It's what happens when your designers attempt to make a derivative trend-follower instead of something unique.
What probably happened was that some VW exec saw what the other manufacturers were doing with their naked sporty bikes, then walked into the design meeting and said "VEE NEED ZE SPACESHIP! UND ZE TOILET BOWL FRONT LAMP!!!!!!". The end result is essentially an SV650 with Termis and an LED toilet bowl.
If the designer's primary goal was to make The Final Solution For The Muffin Top (on two wheels), they nailed it. It probably rides great, but as a product that is purchased as a fashion statement first, it's rubbish.

Heh, I've had the 650 mistaken as a Duc a few times.
-
Yuck. It's lost every single bit that made it unique. I'm sure it's a great bike still.... But....

I think the new age hipsters are going to be PISSED at this one.
It's gone way more Duke and Street Triple than Thruxton and R9T. -

The problem isn't so much that it looks like the wrong KTM or Triumph. More importantly, it doesn't look like a Monster.
You could switch the badges on it and nobody would be able to tell the difference.
-
Meh. It looks like a KTM. Not a fan.
-
Yikes. Monsters might be my favorite bikes ever. This ainโt it. Yuck.
-
I had a love-hate relationship with my little 696 Monster. One of the things I loved was the styling. I agree that this new offering has lost much of unique Ducati look...

If you threw Yamaha tuning forks on it and told me it was the new MT09 I'd believe you
