I live in West Virginia now!
Well, kind of. You see, I don't move out of FL until the 11th of September, so from now until then I have 2 homes. Will be gradually moving over the next couple months. Once I have a place to sleep (air mattress) a place to work (desk) and an internet connection (Comcast) I'll "move in." That means I'll work, then I'll keep cleaning up the place and unpacking boxes.
"Now wait a minute Taylor, your family is in Maryland. Why are you moving to West Virginia?"
Great question! For some reason, my company doesn't work in MD. I asked for them to change that, and the soonest I could get a meeting just to talk about it was the 12th. Meanwhile, I had two weeks while in MD to find a place, fall in love, and snag it. That's what I've done.
The neighbors are great, the garage is long (could fit a Smart Car or Fiat 500 in there along with my car), and it matches the color of my car which I think is cute. Also water is included in rent, so I can take long showers without worrying about it. And it's an easy drive home. And I'm happy.
Look at this cute hedgehog. I may get one eventually, but for now I'm worried about getting the inside up to code. It'll take many months to turn this house into a fully furnished home, but already the area and the people make me feel like I belong (I have 8 neighbors, we're our own little tribe, already met 2 of them. It's so nice).
I'm going to bed. Riding on a jet ski for the first time tomorrow. That should be
hellfun. -
Better be going to Summit Point then!
-
@danny-korecki Don't know what/where that is, but if it's nearby and I'm not swamped then probably!

Summit Point Motorsports Park.
One of the most known race tracks in the DMV area.

@taylor-martin That is exciting, West Virginia is one of the states where I'd really like to spend more time - mountains, quaint small towns, the Greenbrier, etc. I've only been there once, and was only out of the car for a few hours to walk around a reclaimed surface coal mine site in the New River Gorge my then-employer was redeveloping. I hear its gotten real nice since they finished.

@carsoffortlangley WEST VIRGINIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MOUNTAIN MAMA
But seriously, @Taylor-Martin congrats! Looks like a really nice place and that's a cool way to do a 1 car garage and still have space for things beyond the 1 car. Hope it works well for you.
-
@taylor-martin Congratulations on the townhouse that matches your car.
-
@taylor-martin Much way-to-go ness! High five yes?
-
@taylor-martin Congratulations on the new digs! Sure, a Smart could fit, but what about some bikes?
-
@taylor-martin Whoa, is that entire 3-story building under your ownership now? What a baller.
-
@danny-korecki Well, I've come to the consensus that I won't be racing my own car... but if I get a second car in the coming years... oh yeah...
-
@ranwhenparked It's a very rural area, and I'm beyond chuffed that I get to drive backroads more often. If you're ever in the area let me know, we'll explore together, there's a lot to see.
-
@carsoffortlangley I can sing that genuinely now... beautiful
-
Congratulations on the townhouse that matches your car.
That was accidental, but perfect!
-
High fives indeed

I prefer to keep all 4 wheels on the ground, and also I don't exercise lol. But a small car would be an absolute blast!

Not quite ownership, it's a rental property, but everyone in the neighborhood has been a long-term tenant. I hope to do the same.
-
@taylor-martin Yes, I mean do you live alone in that house or do you share it with someone else, like the one in Florida?
-
@annoying_salman Nope, I'll live alone, but I plan on having accommodations so that anyone can crash there a night or two, you included if you ever make it to the states.
-
@taylor-martin Daaaamn, the entire 3-story house just for yourself? Man I'm really jealous with you right now.
-
@annoying_salman It is nice, but what's more shocking is it's in my price range. I hope it's not all to myself forever either, with guests and future girlfriends coming over fairly regularly. The plan is to have a place for people to come over for dinner or something.
Though really, I really wanted this place cause it was the only one with a garage lol.

I see what you did there player.
-
@taylor-martin Congratulations on the new digs. Enjoy this photo of a Crosley Super Sport which should fit nicely in the extra space and make for an excellent way to explore WV backroads.
-
@kiltedpadre Literally most Crosleys would fit in that space... now all I have to do is find cheap Crosleys!
