One of the big reasons I was drawn to my Civic Si is that underneath any sportiness, it's a good plain old regular practical car.

I'm the primary grocery shopper in my house. While I was out of commission my wife sorta kinda picked up the slack but she's not the avid grocery shopper I am, and she was taking care of me, so we started doing online curbside pickup orders at Giant to help ease the load.

Now that I'm back driving and (sort of) walking, I'm not quite at my full ability to hit multiple stores as I used to do. But I am capable of doing 3 concurrent online pickup orders at Giant, Harris-Teeter, and Target, buying each item on my shopping list from the cheapest of the 3 stores.

This proved to be not without its logistical headaches, but I can confirm the Si is quite able to carry a bunch of crap. It may not be a hatchback, but the trunk is way big. The only items out of like $250 worth of crap that I needed to put in the really-quite-roomy back seat were laundry detergent and paper towels.

Speaking of paper towels, at least around me they appear to be the next covid-related shortage. They were one of the logistical headaches because Giant's website said they were in stock, but when I went to pick up my order they weren't. Luckily Giant and Target are right next to each other, so I grabbed one of the last few remaining 6-packs of Bounty select-a-size on the shelf. Maybe y'all should buy paper towels too. Let's all make the shortage worse!

Glad to see you're on the mend enough to do multiple stops now.
I have a part time job at a warehouse club. We go through a ton of TP/Paper Towels every day. I'm not sure what people do with all those paper products, especially since my store has had limits in place since March.

Those cars are so good. I've always been amazed at just how good of a DD they are while still being sporty. And that blue is awesome.

@s65 Here's some old school MoCo for you: back in the day when I was a kid, this was the "Gourmet Giant" because it was bigger and fancier than the average Giant. The sign by the Randolph Rd entrance was updated to the new modern Giant logo years ago, but they kept the "Gourmet Foods / In Store Bakery" part from the Gourmet Giant days.

But now compared to what I experienced out of plain old regular grocery stores during my time living in the Midwest, it feels a little old and small.

I shop there because it's both the closest Giant to me, and it's more well-stocked with hippie items than other Giants. So I'm sorta kinda loyal to the Gourmet Giant but I have a lot of different grocery stores in my rotation.

@texturedsoyprotein I never knew the history behind that, it doesn't even seem that big anymore.

@texturedsoyprotein Before Wegmans. Before the dark times.

@lokerola Closest Wegman's to me is 13 miles away. Not going to schlep up there when I have Giant, Safeway, Harris-Teeter, Trader Joe's, Food Lion, MOM's Organic, Whole Foods, and any number of Mexican, Indian & Asian grocery stores all right in my neck of the woods.

There is however a big new high density mixed-use development going in down the street from me which will have a Wegman's as its centerpiece. That place has been in planning phase hell for at least 2-3 years but the developer finally got all the local government approvals within the past few months.

Thanks, I agree, and the Si is both kind of slept on and yet to those who know, they know.

I was buying sporty versions of BMWs for the performance more than the luxury, and put up with my fair share of heartache from them. A sporty version of a really solid regular car, to me that's luxury. It's comfy, roomy with modern-ish tech, no rattles, reliable, holds value, pretty dang decent fun to drive-ness stock and plenty of tuning potential without ruining the regular car aspects. What's not to like?

@texturedsoyprotein I like Wegman's food. I just hate the crowds. So my wife goes and leaves me at home.. Best of both worlds - I get to browse Oppo, then eat Wegman's food when my wife get's home #livingthelife.....
