      ⚠ Poll May Switch Choices

Welcome to This or That; Where I choose 2 vehicles (but probably can't afford) and you choose which one you'd rather have with the poll.
You can explain your choice below, or not.

Last time we had a battle of the mid 00’s. Understandably not everyone’s favourite vehicles with the Ford Expedition more chosen over the Chrysler Aspen, 33 : 15

Switching gears here with a couple of lightly used cars.

First up is a Platinum White 2020 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport Manual. It has the Turbocharged 2.0L Engine with 252bhp, a 6-Speed Manual Transmission and FWD. Inside is Black Interior with Fabric and Leather Seats, Heated Front Seats, Heated Steering Wheel, Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control, Moonroof, 7” Infotainment with 10-Speaker Sound System, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Need something a little more funky?

It’s up against a Chalk White 2020 Hyundai Veloster N. It has the Turbocharged 2.0L Engine with 275bhp, a 6-Speed Manual Transmission and FWD. Inside is a Black Interior with Cloth and Leatherette, Heated Front Seats, Heated Steering Wheel, Automatic Climate Control, 8” Infotainment with Infinity 8-Speaker Premium Sound System.

@exage03040 Accord. I have spent enough time in a veloster to not want to be in one again. Also, on my run yesterday I passed by an accord like this and an RS5 sportback... The Audi was grey with the blacked out grille so I had to look hard...thought it was an accord too, just a year newer!...

            This was a tough one!!

My head said get the Honda, but my heart chose the goofy little hooligan hatch.

The one with the H obviously. That's how everyone knows it's a Honda.

But in the Honda you can drive like a Hooligan, and nobody will notice. Not even the cops will see you in your white sedan.

                          Can you though?

I've driven plenty of cars that look great on paper, but aren't as fun to drive as the stats suggest. The few reviews I've seen of the Accord 2.0T seem to put it in that group.

@exage03040 I must be getting old, checks birthday, why yes I am, the Honda seems to promise most of the fun of the Veloster with more practicality and space, also doesn't stand out so much.

So Honda, also, these are both this or that's I would consider buying. Many times I know very little about the offerings.

Will add that I have driven a Veloster Turbo, though not an N, it did not feel as performance oriented as I expected, and the rear seats actually fit 6' me (not any room to spare but I fit). It was less sporty than I thought, but more livable as a daily driver than I expected too.

I daily drive a full-size crew cab pickup, so I assure you I would have a ball in a manual Accord. Someone used to a sports car? Maybe not. It's all relative. I find Tahoes and Roadmaster wagons easy to park because of what I'm used to.

@exage03040 I've been lusting after a 2.0T 6 speed since they came out, so this was an easy decision to me. I'm sure the Veloster is plenty fun though

@exage03040 This is the first time I've been genuinely torn about these. The Accord is a future classic in that spec and the Veloster N is just fantastic.

                                      @shop-teacher Fair enough.

But if its chassis and stability control system are set up to any wheel spinning or to understeer before killing all speed due to slipping, it can get frustrating really quickly.

I can confirm it does not in fact get old. You master it and can do it on command plus it can be tamed down with which mode you are in.

Even more fun is removing the recirc intake tube and mastering the blow off noises... pppFFFFHHHsss crackle POP POP bbbwwwooooaaahhhh

@snakesm13 I love the Abarth charm, and that is something that Veloster can never match, but the extra speed and comfort and those noises are very tempting. But, it is $10-15k more expensive than the Abarth and it won't give me $10-15k more joy.

@musashi66 The Abarth noises to me are more enjoyable because it has a slight italian flair to it. The only thing the Veloster has over it is interior space, composure at speeds and maybe reliability. But pure driving engagement not $10k for sure.

Not even the cops will see you in your white sedan.

                                                      Bold statement, but good luck!

I say this as somebody who drove a Roadmaster wagon with no plates at all for a month, no front plate for six months, and then expired plates for another month. No cop ever turned their head. I'm sure you would have, but you're a special breed 🙂
