Who needs pinned posts when ya got custom icons in the header?
-
Those icons are, sadly, completely undiscoverable and meaningless at a glance. I think if perhaps they didn’t blend in so well and had some wording to go with them...maybe...
-
@just-jeepin The text label pops up super quick on mouse-over. I'd assume most folks who are new here will click through the icons and they're looking around.
-
@davesaddiction I’m usually on my iPad, so no hover for me. And I think you’re overestimating what new users will do; even as a techie I generally stop exploring once I see what I’m looking for.

They caused the “new topic” button to get covered up on my tablet. Can only post from my phone now.

Found a way to reproduce that, will check later for a fix.
It should not happen if you switch to landscape mode. -

It should not happen if you switch to landscape mode.I also made a change to remove the category listing from the top of the page after you click the oppo icon to save some space up top, that does push the new button up higher though.

I made a change to tighten up the top by removing the category label from the main page. If you go to here, the new topic button should be there.

I kinda wish we could go the other way though, and have the category names always present without having to click, to help out Overland, Oppolitics, and any other sub-forums we make eventually.
-
@chariotoflove I think Overland really needs to be its own thing on the same platform, not a sub of OPPO.

I can't argue with you, but then it takes up a decent chunk of the top of the page, especially on mobile.

I know. Compromises either way.
