What's this? A Civic SI that hasn't been trashed? I don't believe it.
Always thought it was odd that these were the only way to get that generation of Civic hatch.
-
I had one back in 2003. Fun little car. I could fit a giant mountain bike in the back with seats down. The weird shifter placement actually worked really well. I so badly wanted to import the Type R body kit but it cost as much as 1/4 of the car.
I had 5-Zigen wheel in hyper black on it. Other than fake exhaust tips on my Taurus SHO, my first mod on any car.

They should have put the K20A2 in it for North America like they did for Europe. It was a bit of a dog with the A3 compared to the competition. Some BS about not wanting to upset the RSX-S success or something.

Yeah wasn't the K20A3 the non VTEC motor that automatic RSXs got? The low displacement low compression one?
-
@s65 Yeah, just the base RSX in general, manual or auto. 160bhp and 6800 redline, instead of 200bhp and 8250 redline.

@whoistheleader
Saw a pristine maintained Type R in black the other day of one of these. Then pulled up behind it at the traffic lights and noticed he did a rear wiper delete. Not remove the whole thing and replace the hole with a grommet, no, just simply removed the arm, leaving the large pin sticking out. It looked awful. -

k20 would suggest it's still a 2.0 so not low displacement but the low compression sounds perfect for a turbo/supercharged build

Except that you could do it with the A2 and it was stronger from what I recall.
Old threads had the A3 capped out on stock rods and valve springs at 300whp the A2 could do 400-450whp (some over) on stock internals. -

That pretty much sums up most of the owners of these things. Bet that wasn't the original owner and it was some kid who is going to trash it.

Did you remove a fake exhaust tip or add one?
This is one car that is just begging for some sporty aftermarket rims. I thought the ones on this one went well with the blue.
Seems like it's a rather useful two door hatch, larger than a two door Golf but sleeker and more driver focused.
-
@whoistheleader A car here in the U.K. of that age and type. It's almost certainly fifth to eigth owner.
It was absolutely pristine otherwise. -
For some reason this reminds me of a guy I knew in high school who was really into VW Golfs. After his first Golf tragically burned to a crisp in a garage fire, he started looking for another one, and was telling all of us that every single Golf he found for sale had curb rash. It was the strangest thing, no matter how pristine the cars were, they all had curbed wheels. It's like the Camry dent of Golfs... He did buy another, and of course the wheels were curbed, but I think he eventually fixed it. He was a very chill dude, I hope his current Golf doesn't burn down this time...

@whoistheleader I almost want to leave notes on cars like this like "hey, heard of "bring a trailer? Sell your car on there for more money than you think its worth, you're welcome"
-Tripper -
@tripper Naw, gotta just lowball them so you can pocket the difference in BaT vs private sale.

@whoistheleader annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd PROFIT

I added tips. 1991 SHO came with twin exhaust pipes, but they were just plain, unfinished ones. I got those cheap Pep Boy slip-on models that you just screwed on the end of your exhaust. No Sr20 though, I can’t find any photos of my SHO.
