Deepmind AI is going to put you out of work!
Economist site is paywalled so I copied it to Drive.

I'd be completely fine if they were able to fold me out of having to do folding on my home machine!
-
That's fine, I'm seriously considering jumping over to Mac with the M1 and retiring my PC for pretty much everything except for gaming.
-
@gin-san And folding... I just recently overtook you in the team rankings...
-
@rusty-vandura yeah I did see that
I've been gaming again recently so haven't been putting out the full 1M PPD. Only reason why I ever got ahead was because I left my machine running pretty much non stop since we started this.
I really wish one of us oppos had a RTX 3090 just so we could see what that could do.
-
@gin-san My understanding is that the 3090 only kills it when it's assigned large WUs. I don't know how prevalent large WUs are or are not. I'm folding 24/7 with a 1080 ti. I might upgrade to a 2080 if there are any used ones at a good price after Christmas. Then try and get a few bucks back out of my 1080.
-
@rusty-vandura ah I didn't realize that
Anything in the 2000 series and higher I can't use since I only have one 8 pin power connector and I don't want to put any more upgrades into my nearly 7 year old PC.
The fact that my 1660 Super is able to put out 1M PPD is impressive after the CUDA updates they made for the f@h client.
Even if I end up with an Apple M1 system my PC will keep running.
-
@gin-san The 1660 Super is a great card; I own two of them, one each in my daily drivers. The 1080 ti is set up at the local high school where they have lots of solar panels.
