Welcome to the grey days...
-
I just saw the sun set behind the horizon at 4:35 PM local time. For me this is the hardest time of year to stay motivated and optimistic.
-
@highlander 3:45pm and the sun's going down. I've been in this seat since before it came up. All I do is work and stare at my neighbour's CJ and my other neighbour's gladiator.
At least you live somewhere picturesque. I see nothing but suburbia and the occasional homeless person/fedex truck.
-
@carsoffortlangley there is a really nice 2004 WJ V8 with leather down the road from me, it’s been for sale for 6 months, thinking about throwing a $4500 offer out there. 100,000 ish miles, no rust, not dings, interior looks really nice too. I’ve just never heard anything but bad things about Jeep’s.
-
@highlander I've looked at Toyota's a ton, but wow. I just can't. A decent one starts at $15K and at that point, I don't see the point. I'd rather just put the money towards a new JL.
-
@carsoffortlangley yep.
-
It was ~76 today, I welcome the damn sun going away lol. It was a beautiful day to WFH though at least. But the beautful weather only made me sad to be working. I find it harder to get exercise in with less daylight. And exercise of any sort is my primary pick-me-up.
-
Just think about all the skiing coming! This is why I love Christmas lights. They turn my depressed into my content.
I'm having a hard time getting in rides like I did before. The temp isn't bad, but it's hard to get out in sunlight.
-
@chariotoflove bike lights make it possible?
But TBH I wouldn’t want to be on a low profile hand cycle in the dark even with lights.
-
@wrong-wheel-drive I usually get fat in December then I start to Nordic ski and can’t figure out why I’m so slow.
-
@carsoffortlangley Lucky. I'm working from home in a basement bedroom.
-
@wrong-wheel-drive Don't you even think of trying for sympathy. I've seen your outdoor office.
This is the time of year you start going in for short hard efforts. Time trial up your road on the bike or something.
-
@highlander solidarity from the flatlands bud.
-
Spokane is maybe the farthest east actual city in the northern part pacific time zone. Official sunset here is now before 4pm, and the light starts fading around 3:30. At least it was mostly sunny today.
-
3 Weeks until the shortest day and the start of winter for the Northern Hemisphere.
Lets get this shit over with! Come on warm end of March -

Haha yeah I just have to be less lazy. It's hard to get up in the morning though as I'm not an early bird at all. First day of daylight savings I woke up at 0500 and got out on a bike trail before the sun was up at 0600. That was nice but since then it's been chasing the sunset and running out of time. Today I did go bike ride but just a short jaunt around my road on the parts that aren't so steep. Can't go very far without incurring a 1000 foot climb in one direction though. So it's hard to ever do a "casual" ride.
-
@highlander getting darker later here for me. mind you we're coming into summer helps.
-
@wrong-wheel-drive I completely understand. There really is no warming up on a downhill or cooling down at the end of a ride coming back up. Unless you're in great condition, or already adapted to the seasonal weather, it limits drive to head out the door.
I can tell by Highlander's recent posts the lack of travel and realization he's fast running out of enjoyably fresh things to do at home is making things tough out there too.
-
@pip-bip I could use a trip to somewhere warm. What does that even feel like? Usually I'm doing a trip to California once a month and get my sun and taco fill.
