While I broadly support this, it still sucks given that going to Washington was such a big part of my life prior to 2020. The PM looks like he's hinting on border restrictions until the GLOBAL situation (not just the USA) improves.

This doesn't surprise me too much.

Maybe by late 2021, things will be moving again?

@baconsandwich Maybe. I'm not holding out too much hope. I have major doubts around the vaccination with respect to production, availability and take rate.

2022 is probably going to be the earliest things ever approach normalcy again

Maybe I'm needlessly optimistic in that regard. I think (or at least hope) that they'll be cranking out the vaccines as fast as they can humanly produce them. I wonder if you'll have to present some sort of proof of vaccination when attempting to cross borders or fly anywhere.

@carsoffortlangley My friend and her kids haven't seen their mom/grandma in such a long time... this year has been so hard for them.

From what I've read there will be enough vaccines to give everyone their shots by middle of 2021. It's expected that half of the U.S. population will refuse to get vaccinated, because Bill Gates wants to inject them with microchips. Unbelievable, but true and only one of many conspiracy theories. I can envision scenarios where if you can prove you've been vaccinated you'll be free to wander the globe, otherwise you'll be in permanent lockdown. I'll be getting vaccinated as soon as possible, and hopefully that will be my get-out-of- jail free card and I can visit my family in Canada.

@classicdatsundebate The market is just way too hot here. I saw a cosmetically damaged 1996 4Runner today at a dealer with 168,000km for $10K. I called on it and was told they had 10(!) people inquire in an hour since they posted it and people showing up to see it. It was buy over the phone or lose it.

I just can't justify paying over $10K for something that is high mile or beat on.

@carsoffortlangley This really sucks, and I for one am very sad because I have an awesome car that I want to drive all over the damn place.

And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"

You're dead on there. The prices of older cars trucks and bikes in the lower mainland can be pretty crazy, and if the price seems reasonable at first glance odds are the condition makes the vehicle as attractive a proposition as buying a used condom.

@midengine What's hilarious is that we've almost all microchipped ourselves with phones. I'll probably hold out for a bit for the vaccine, but that's mainly due to having bad reactions with flu shots, as they just give me a bad case of... the flu.

Woo boy that'd suck. RIP Point Roberts. Our Gov here has been trying his darndest but people gonna stupid. Ironically our plan for this year was to get our passports so we can do some trips up to B.C. I haven't been since pre 9/11 and my other half has never been.
