How does OPPO feel about these?

Under $10k, enters the consideration fray. -
Do you want to make new friends? Because you will know everyone at your closest Audi dealership Service department by first name.

Cheap german cars are scary

@st80mnd Love the design of these OG ones (de Silva: “The Audi A5 Coupé is the most beautiful car I’ve ever designed and is well on its way to becoming a design icon. I’m therefore thrilled by this accolade, as it also validates my hard work.”)
No idea how reliable they are, though...
Where's the timing chain?
-
@davesaddiction "Where's the timing chain?" front on this if its the 2.0
-
@st80mnd Like!
-
@adabofoppo Well, I'm already a financial supporter of my local BMW mechanic, so how bad could it be? I joke tho, as I already swore off Audi once, but I'll be damned if I'm not in love with the A/S 5. Also the BMW 335 coupe. Yum Yum.

@st80mnd Or for the same price, this:
Tough call. -
@st80mnd I mean, it’s pretty in that color. But is it really $10K to own it?
-
@chariotoflove Honestly, like many dogs or horses, I think it will own you.(Or whoever buys them)

As long as you buy knowing you have the money for the vet bills.

@st80mnd
I’ve got a 2014 A4 sedan. Had it since new. No problems 6 years and 80k later.I believe the earlier B8’s (2009-2010) had issues with piston rings and oil consumption. There’s a TSB for it. I would recommend an inspection, but if you get the all clear, these are great cars and super easy to live with

I know... it doesn't stop me from wanting one either.

If by scary, you mean fun, then yes. If you mean second, and third mortgage followed by bankruptcy, and the car still won't run, then yes as well.

Tough call.I always liked those. And that's the colour too. Is that the V8 one?
-
@ibrad Yes it is. everything about this feels proper.

@tripper IF
-
@st80mnd I had a B8.5 A4 for a bit. No major issues, but continual tiny issues that annoyed the piss out of me.
Electrical gremlins in the dash/radio, the washer fluid would empty itself onto my garage floor randomly, the brake reservoir cap 'failed' and it was a $85 part, randomly dead battery twice, stupid stuff like that on a two year old car.
I didn't tolerate it long. -
@st80mnd You asked. It's too fancy for me, too much likelihood of expensive maintenance. At the very least, I'd investigate when last the transmission was serviced and how much that costs. Also, how much do brakes cost? Worth considering.
-
@st80mnd On the other hand: That is also the V8 one.
-
@st80mnd They're gorgeous. You should absolutely buy it, if you hate having money and reliable transportation.
-
@st80mnd I'd go with the BMW. My friend went to look at the convertible versions of the A5 and 335. The 335 felt substantially better to drive and that's what he owns now. Both will be expensive but the BMW will probably be more enjoyable.

@krustywantout As a current BMW owner, I'm inclined to agree. However, I live in winter, so no rag top for me. to be fair, even If I lived in summer, I still wouldn't do drop top. I like my head, and I'm reasonably sure at some point in my life I will be upside down in a car.
