I always love how nature suggests more aerodynamic shapes to cars when the snow is falling. Today's subject is an E39 M5, with a fastback hatch that probably would have been super useful. There's a little bit of the Citroen C6's concave rear window in the way the wind made buttresses on the edges but a faster centerline section. Overall, I think it's quite successful.

@StuckMTB That should be fun in the snow, I can't imagine it has winter tires on those wheels. I still lust after an E39 M5.

No, I checked, they're super sports! Those things are as good as hockey pucks under 40 degrees.

@stuckmtb Yeah, that's a bad idea. If it's cold and completely dry, you'll be okay (if you're not stupid), but definitely not in the wet!

PSS/PS4 are truly astounding in the wet above 40, though.

@stuckmtb guy at work drove his stinger all last winter with supersports. I was skeptical, but somehow he did it and still has the car in one piece.

I had my hatchback suggested to add more tail/do away with the little flat lip on the tailgate by sir. winter once, really interesting!

You'd be surprised what BMWs can do in snowy conditions on highly unsuitable tires. A mate of mine dailied his 335i year-round on PSSs and after being caught once in snow with summer tires on my 325i, the chassis balance and traction granted by the stability control system is truly astonishing. I still wouldn't recommend it even after nine pints of cider, but it's possible.

I spy with my little eye... only 2 pipes instead of 4 that an M5 should have?

Mother Nature is the superior car designer. That genuinely looks good. Reminds me of a Mercedes C230 hatch, but better looking (though I still like C230 a lot. There used to be a nice navy blue one in my old neighborhood).

Total sidenote: I really miss snow.

Some journalist told me about this site. Now I own three cars.
