Well, that’s something I’ve never seen before.

A Canadair CF-104 Starfighter flies alongside a Canadair CL-41R. Registered CF-LTX-X, the 41R was a CT-114 Tutor two-seat trainer that was fitted with a Starfighter nose for weapons systems training.

When you're in the editor, there is a grid of four squares all the way to the right of the tool bar. Click that, and link or upload a picture. That picture will not appear in the post. If you link a huge photo, it will cover the entire FP. If you are anal about how the square thumbnail will look, you can crop a picture square and use that.

The immortal Tutor. The Snowbirds need to put that thing out to pasture ASAP.

@smallbear Agreed. That last crash showed that the Tutor is woefully outdated, particularly the ejection seat. That crew member probably would have survived in a modern seat.

@ttyymmnn That, and the airframes are simply wearing out, no matter how well they're maintained. The accident may not have even happened in a newer aircraft.

I think they still aren't slated to be replaced until after 2030...supposedly they are in for massive upgrades right now or so something I read had mentioned.

@smallbear I don't think I ever read a final report, if there's been one. The engine failed, but was it a bird strike?

@ttyymmnn Just looked it up again. You're right, a bird. I had thought it was a mechanical issue but I guess I was dreaming.

@ttyymmnn Huh. TIL. Also, if that wasn't called the "Hummingbird" it was missed opportunity.
