@jminer Just a heads up, there seems to be an issue with the site.
I attempted to upvote a post and received an error which said "Forbidden." I then attempted to create a thread mentioning such and while trying to upload a screenshot was given an error which stated "Error while parsing server response." Deciding to forgo the screenshot I attempted to post the thread without it and received an error which said "Forbidden."
I tried going to @jminer 's profile and clicking chat, but it did nothing.
Idk, just a heads up
If it was on mobile, chat really doesnโt work there very well. I had a similar problem earlier but a force refresh of the page seemed to bring everything back into function.
I have also been suffering the same things on the iPhone.

Dumb question: How do I make an image preview show up in the link to a new topic I do?
-
@Mazda616 when making the topic there's an icon that looks like 4 squares. That's the icon for the thumbnail.
-
@jminer Thank you!
-
@jminer A feature I would appreciate is the authors name stays in the header bar as you scroll through a posting. I can't count the times I scroll to the top to check "now wait, who wrote this?"
tks
bob -
@racinbob Makes sense, not sure how easy that'll be to implement - in the mean time you can click the up chevron on the left here
and it'll shoot you back to the top.
-
@racinbob That's not a bad idea! I, too, have lost track of who the thread/topic starter was.
-
@jminer, here's a feature suggestion: that when someone creates a topic, they automatically are following that topic. More specifically, that the creator is notified whenever someone replies directly to the topic. If a respondent does not call out the creator explicitly, then unless they check back -- or click "follow" -- the originator doesn't realize they're receiving replies.
-
@rusty-vandura You can set that in your profile settings
Check the 'Watch topics you create' and you'll get notified by any replies to a post you create.
-
@jminer I'm a genius! Thank you. I read where you and Missus are feeling more settled now. I am happy to hear that. Are the cats adjusted yet?
-
@rusty-vandura Yay for easy fixes!

I would also like the page forward back selector at the top of the page as well as at the bottom. I find I go to the last post and work backwards, Its a PITA to get to the top and have to go back to the bottom to see the prior page,....

It's not the easiest but if you click the bar in the lower right (or bottom on mobile) you can grab the slider and drag through the posts up one at a time which will take you to the bottom of the page before (or another point in the conversation).

I just tried using the message system on mobile. It did not go well....
That's what my screen looked like on an iPhone when I scrolled up to read a previous message. -
@bicyclebuck I will say the scrolling up on chats is a bit awkward for sure. It's still a lot better than before but not perfect. It gets better if you go to the 'see all chats' where it'll take over the whole window instead of displaying in a pop-up.

I'll give it a shot.
