This is a very good receiver that I just won in an online estate auction.

I really don't need it till one of my present receivers passes on which I hope is not soon as one is my dad's Tandberg from the '70's and the other is my Grandfather's Yamaha from the 80's.

However this was too cool to pass up, I hope it works as advertised! It was owned by a local Jazz buff. I am curious what happened to his speakers which should have been good also.

@racinbob nice find! Vintage audio is one of things I desperately want to get into but it can be expensive.

When I was young and dumb I gave away a marantz receiver and tuner as I didn't have room in my next place. I very much regret that decision.

Yep, my second used Technics from the 80's blew out recently and I thought I would go to best buy and just get a $125 Sony. I was hugely disappointed with its sound. It had no depth, the tuner sounded like it was single chip radio. Those old recievers like your old Marantz just sound better.

I hope this sucker lasts as its pedigree is very good. The kind of stuff I took a glance at in the Audio store's in the '80s knowing there was no way I would spend that kind of money on that.....

I can relate. Whenever we go to a thrift store, I can't resist browsing the old electronics. I know my phone, Pandora, and a good BT speaker do the job more efficiently, but still...

As a hi-fi guy: nice. That should be a good unit if it's in good shape

Yes, there was distinct point recently where any one of the half dozen recognized highly collectible stereo receivers went from being attainable due to lack of interest to setting off bidding wars and attaining massive valuation. A rising tide raises all boats and all of a sudden thrift stores and pawnshop shelves were emptied of lesser models in nothing special condition.
