About those increased used car values...
-
I decided to take advantage of the hot used market right now and sell my '08 Town Car. It's an extra vehicle now and taking up (a lot of) room in the driveway, so out it goes. Afaik there's still demand for these from a certain segment of the population, and mine is in excellent shape with only 75k miles. Kelly and NADA online say clean retail is $7800 but I'm curious if that value might be low because of the current market. Or is that just for late model cars and wouldn't affect a 13 year old Lincoln?

@turbineguy-nom-de-zoom You don't know for sure until you try...
-
@turbineguy-nom-de-zoom I can say that when I checked semi-recently with Carvana they were offering me bottom of the barrel pricing on my 04 Grand Cherokee.
-
@turbineguy-nom-de-zoom Seems like beater pricing is up, so I wouldn't be surprised if good condition but older cars are also getting caught in the trend. I'm hoping it'll help me make easy money on the Jag (if I ever get around to selling it) but I know Carmax and Carvana have no interest in something older than about 10 years.
-
@just-jeepin Carvana offers basically scrap price on old cars. They offered me $3k on my Miata and not even shitbox Miata's are going for that right now
-
To me, $7800 for an '08 town car is kind of already high so who knows what it might actually sell for.
-
@turbineguy-nom-de-zoom put it on Swappo
-
@turbineguy-nom-de-zoom I threw my car through Carvana's selling process out of sheer curiosity. Highest offer I've seen yet, so now seems like a decent time to sell.
-
@akioohtori Makes sense; their offer was half of NADA clean retail.
