      Wind sucks, fuel economy is great, and hot damn is it one of the more exciting ways I’ve commuted. Sucks that it’ll rain tomorrow and I likely won’t ride, but damn is it nice to go out for a rip and not feel like I have to justify it.

          @spacekraken It was! Slowly building up my speed and distance.

          Being able to pass without downshifting is nice too.

            @cb

            You're getting the windscreen though?

            I well remember my noob gear and highways the first year. A couple hours at 100kph would do me in and I wanted to stick to roads 80 and below.

            Switching to full leathers made a massive difference in reducing drag which increased both stamina and increased sustainable speed (remember drag compounds with speed), it was essentially cutting the parachute off.

              @exage03040 I find wearing a bag strapped tight helps with the drag. But yes, I'm getting a larger windscreen to help with airflow.

                counterpoint, downshifting to pass is the best part. nice little rev match, lean on the throttle, feel that power band

                  I'm still getting used to the whole motorcycle thing, so if I can keep it simple for now, I'm more than happy to!

                    @cb isn’t the transition between environments amazing on a motorcycle?

                      @tripper Smell while riding is still quite novel to me. I never get much of that in the car.

                        I've been on motorcycles since I was old enough to walk and the smells are still novel to me!

                          Yes! You can feel the earth, the damp, the soil, the baking heat. You feel the wind and the plants and the clouds. It’s mystical despite being a semi-controlled explosion directly adjacent to your nutsack

                            This has to be one of the greatest sentences I've ever read. Or possible ever written. 😁
