      Have any of you put your hands on the PALM Companion ?

      I am considering one for use on the GTL because it's nice and compact and can stay in the phone pocket to charge and stream music and traffic data.

      It's a pretty compelling little package at 3.3" diagonal screen size... (!)

      Apparently, you can use the phone without a SIMcard on my carrier (TMo) with a service they call DIGITS... Pretty neat !

          @doodon2whls This thing is at least a couple years old at this point. It's basically a dinky low powered Android phone that's meant to be twinned to your main phone # (i.e. thru that T-Mobile DIGITS and at one point Verizon was doing the same thing) where the same number rings both phones. It runs a trimmed down version of Android. Think of it as like your little mini beater phone with just the basics, that you take with you when you don't want your main phone and don't want to swap SIMs.

            @doodon2whls Like...why not just get a 4a?

            EDIT: gotcha, bike use. I dunno, I think it might be a waste of scratch, but interesting use case.

              That or the Unihertz Jelly2 which seems to run Android 10... whichever has the better specs really.

              Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle.

                    It looks like it came out right in March 2020, as far as I could tell on Amazon ... I can't find the android version info anywhere, but it makes sense that it would be trimmed down.

                      @doodon2whls It's definitely older than that. I have a specific memory of reading about it on my phone between sets at the gym, before covid. I remember both because I had an old school PalmPilot back in the day so the various Palm revivals over the years tend to catch my attention, and the article was like, "you can take this Palm to the gym instead of your good phone!" How very meta. Here's a less-than-enthusiastic review from 2018.

                        @texturedsoyprotein Lol, somehow the photo of it in the hand didn't drive home the tiny size for me, but the photo of the giant USB-C port did 6c6c16ea-166c-4b15-8282-447c1fcad04d-image.png
