Got my money’s worth out of my RE-71Rs.

Thought I could get one more event’s worth of use of my year old Bridgestones. Unfortunately, it was a 2 day event, lol.
My tires put up a valiant fight, even while completely falling apart. My 2 local Miata competitors in STS were both on brand new tires (Yokohama AO52s & Falken RT660s) but I still managed to hang with them, ending day one down .066 of a second behind.
After a year of road trips, a season of autocross, and 3 hours of track time at Heartland Park, I’m awfully happy with how well these held up.
Now to decide:
Expensive, short lived, blindingly fast Yokohama AO52s.
or
Cheap, season lasting, all weather performing Falken RT660s. -
@bman76 Yokes!
They lasted 92 runs and a track day on my Vette. And they died due toe wear on the front, they still had decent tread on em. -
Whichever tire you pick, throw some more camber into your alignment at the same time

I have adjustable control arms that need to go on, which will get me some more without compromising the ride height too much.

@bman76 nice, yokes like camber, so make sure you get at least 3 deg...
-
@bman76 good for another track day surely?
-
My buddy drives time attack pretty competitively in GridLife (holds a number of class records at various tracks and has won the series previously) and holds that the RT660 is the goddamn truth, but that they suck in the wet.

@bman76 You might consider replacing those alumunum lug nuts. They will ultimately gall and you might end up not getting them off the car. We had them and its a pain not worth having.

I’ve had good luck with them so far, as did the previous owner. I watch them like a hawk though because 85 lb/ft is such a low torque spec.

@bman76 I want to buy a set of these
-
@bman76 There still seem to be RE-71Rs on clearance from Tire Rack, but if not in your size, I'd go Yokes, since you want to be top tier.
Once my RE-71Rs look like yours, I'll likely go Azenis RT660s unless there are still clearance 'Stones. Cheaper up front, and flipable, plus supposedly quite good. (Frankly I thought my tires would be done by now but they are holding on.)
