Its 9:30 AM... F$&# yeah I want a beer!

Travel days are great because drinking is acceptable at any hour in an airport!
Travel days are not great when you're doing them 5 days apart. Boss is trying to extract maximum work since I'm about to leave for a rotation to HQ. But 2 weeks in sunshine and palm trees isn't the worst work trip. -
@snuze Where are you headed now?
-
Beer thirty.
Not sure about a breakfast beer at the airport, but I do love one (or two) when I'm with (select) family or friends and we've got a long day of doing not-much-of-anything planned.
-
I enjoy drinking at the airport. Too bad it’s so damned expensive.
-
@snuze I don't usually drink when I travel, but I distinctly remember doing an emergency fly-out to see my mom and landing at an airport at like 630AM. Landing there. I don't remember when my first flight left, but I do remember landing in Denver, stopping by some place for breakfast, ordering food and a bloody mary, and was informed I wasn't able to purchase alcohol before 8AM.
-
@snuze Yeah, it's all fun and games until the company accountant asks what you bought for breakfast at the "Fly 'N Bar" on the company card...
-
You’re making remember that one time I had a work trip in CA for three days, came home to Dallas for 48h, and then left for France for 8 days. Yeah, those quick turn arounds can be a killer. Drink up and expense it!
-
@rctothefuture fortunately I get flat rate per diem and dont have to account for all my purchases. Otherwise questions would have been raised long before now.
-
@musashi66 Florida this time. So also hot and sandy, but nicer beaches.
-
@snuze Fair enough! We used to be that way but they changed the policy due to guys spending their travel cash on groceries and other fine items instead of for what it was intended.
-
@ttyymmnn yeah, it was $11.50, which is a bit steep, but beats the alternative, which is no beer!
-
@rctothefuture Never turn in the itemized receipts!!!
-
@akioohtori That sounds like a rough trip, and I can see why you'd want a drink. I don't usually drink before I fly, but this is (supposedly) my last trip for a couple years, so why not?

A bit?!
Brutal paying more for one beer than you would for a really good six pack at the liquor store.
-
@davesaddiction compound airport and DC prices and you arrive at that number.
-
@snuze +1 I always get BANGED up before a flight, or at least now I do after my honeymoon debacle. Perhaps its time I re-tell the story on here but more or less:
Day 14 in Kauai. Wife and I having lunch, flight home scheduled at 10pm:
Her: This has been SO amazing!
Me: Ya know what, I don't think I'm flying today.
Her: lol...hah...wait, what?
Me: *intensely "yeah like I'm not getting on a FUCKING plane today..."
Her: .........We are on an island.........
4 hours later I went to the ER and said "Unless you want another homeless person from the mainland, you gotta give me something to get me on back to back 6 hour plane rides."
*2 valium, 1 whiskey, and 1 beer later
Her: OMG you are so fucked up right now
Me: Laughing uncontrollably
Me: *pulls out trade table, puts down head, sleeps (first EVER sleep on a plane)

@tripper best flight I ever had was my first trip to Japan about 5 years ago. Non-stop from DC to Tokyo. I rolled into the airport real early and ended up smashing 3 tall Goose Island IPAs. Slept 6 hours, watched a movie, got another beer, and slept till we landed.
I also had a good one from Seattle to DC one time where, for reasons unknown to me, they were giving away free liquor. A few minis of Woodford made it a very pleasant flight.

Depending where in Florida, it can be pretty great. Especially when you are staying on someone else’s dime. If you are central or south-west I can make some solid food and beer recommendations.
-
@orneryduck West Palm Beach, but I'm only hear for a day. Then I'm heading off to other places.
