Stupid Money Question
-
I'm majorly blanking on the math here so here's the situation (essentially). There are 2 websites A and B. There are 2 parts I need to get but not necessarily from either site, they're both offered at both site for the same price $250. I have a $200 gift certificate to site A. Assuming shipping/fees etc are the same is there financially any benefit to buy both things from A or not?
To my mind, both things from A = $300. Thing 1 from A = $50 + Thing 2 from B = $250 and total = $300 again right?
-
Shipping would most likely combine and be cheaper than paying two shippings.
-
You're math is correct. However, if you buy both from A, do they give you a break on the S/H cost? Might save a few bucks. Otherwise completely doesn't matter.
EDIT: What @MM54 said one second before me. Read this if you like wordy versions.
-
@VincentMalamute @MM54 I was trying to include that in taxes/fees being equal. They both have free shipping.
-
All things being equal, Which company would you rather your money go to?
-
@longtime-lurker I'll be using both sites in the future. SO yeah I guess it's all equal and has no bearing.
-
@poor_sh Do they have lots of stuff at site A for you to spend your gift card on later? If it's a niche place that you don't shop at too often might be good to use up the card while you've got your eye on something.
-
@ibrad nah I'm only waiting to see if there's any deals this weekend. If not I'll just pull the trigger. Everything I need from that site is over $200 and available other places. I just swear there was some way I could use it to better effect
-
@poor_sh my opinion is to get rid of the gift certificate ASAP
