LS Swap Day 3 Recap - This Stuff Sucks

Today was a rough day and I feel I didn’t get much done. I got the old gas tank and rusty original fuel hard lines removed. I HATE working with the fuel system, I always end up covered in gasoline and 40 years of rust and dirt from under the car. It’s very demotivating to only do work you don’t enjoy, I’m much happier doing engine or bodywork.
I will be running all new high pressure rubber lines with AN fittings from the tank to the fuel rails so everything old had to go. I took the chance to clean the rear underside of the car, rust reform, and paint everything so it should be good for a few more years.
I also setup the new fuel tank. I expected my premade EFI tank kit to come assembled but it was much more DIY than expected. I had to measure float/sender geometries, measure out the pump distances and mount that in a housing, etc.
Lastly I started to sort out wiring. I made a bracket to hold the new engine harness fuse box out of some old carbon plate I’ve had lying around since my college days. I’m not happy with the way it turned out, not very sturdy against the firewall and it’s kind of poor quality but what can you do when you don’t have a work bench, drill press, or any saws (I’d kill for a water jet). I wish I had nutserts and studs to use but these crappy screws are what I could find. The standoffs to hold the box off the firewall are made of old PCV plastic hardline, again it’s what I had. I also went through the old factory engine harness and started to cut out unnecessary wires and clean everything up.

Just a couple things to watch: Make sure your hose is EFI rated for pressure and can handle ethanol. If you can find some that's rated for E85 it should actually last. Also, wrap that in a good heat shield wherever it's close to the exhaust.

@old-busted-hotness That was one of my main concerns when piecing this together! I found some e85 rated press-on fuel line that's rated for fuel injection pressures. Thanks for the tip!
