YouTube in post?
-
I need to know how to put a YT video in a post. The share link only shows up as a link. Anybody know how? Bueller? Bueller?
-
@ttyymmnn Will it auto-parse the link?
Yes it will! Just copy-paste the link into the body of the post, no extra formatting required.
-
@nth256 So I won't see it until I hit Submit?
Also, you're using fancy words like "auto parse." jminer told me yesterday that there is an html gizmo that will give me a separator line across the page. I looked it up, and was told that it was <hr>. But it doesn't look like it worked. Or is that something else that will only show up when published? I guess I'll find out when I hit publish on this reply....

This is a test.
Test failed successfully.

@ttyymmnn Yeah, I just dropped the link into the text editor. You can see in the screen shot, it doesn't show up as a video in the preview window.
(I'm sure you know what 'parsing' is; as it applies to this, it just means the system trying to turn the link into a video, rather than leaving it as a link.)
As for the <hr> tag, I'm not sure what to say there. Not sure how html elements are handled yet.

@nth256 Parse or parsh?
-
-
@ttyymmnn I always just pasted a youtube link into the editor and it worked. You might want to try the full link if you're using a short one that's causing problem
-
@ttyymmnn Are you mostly using mobile? On desktop, you'll see the formatting appear in the post, but the embed WILL appear in the preview pane on the right.
I almost never use mobile, to post, just comment, so not sure if it works differently on mobile!
-
@rallydarkstrike No, only posting on desktop. All the other formatting was appearing on the right, so I was expecting the video to.
-
@ttyymmnn Huh...
EDIT - I just copy-pasted that Youtube URL from a random video and it embedded just fine for me?
-
@ttyymmnn Not sure on preview, I think it looks screwy (like a poll when creating) in build, but good in final form.
-
@rallydarkstrike Yeah, I was expecting it to show up in the preview and it didn't. I got it to work.
-
@ttyymmnn Yay, glad you sorted it!
-
Here's my try
-
Guess it works

Too bad that pastes of screengrabs do not work....
-
Ttymmmnnnn - how did you put the Porche picture in?

When you reply, it's best to use the "Reply" button in the comment you are referring to. Not only does it give a direct flag to the person, but you also get the full editor window with all of its formatting and photo insertion goodness.

I think I have to turn my screenshots into png files instead of jpgs. I'll have to experiment more.
