The MSD 6AL and Pertronix Flamethrower 3 coil are on. That and all new belts for the Lancer. Also I had my first (sorta) breakdown.

I went to move the car into my buddies garage and I had no gears. The shifter was extremely loose and immediately I suspected the cables had came loose. These old Dodges are known for linkage failures and mine was no exception. The ball and socket connection had become unmarried and a quick response by my best buddy Nathan had it fixed for now. This is the first failure I’ve had that rendered the car broken. Luckily the fix was easy.

We got to doing the MSD ignition box which took less than 1 hour to install. The install went cleanly and we hid the box and wires the best we could. All in all I think the red matches the theme I have in mind and looks incredibly at home under this hood. The raised lines perfectly match my valve cover and I’m loving it.

The Pertronix coil looks basically stock minus the decals and operates at 48,000 volts; I chose it over the MSD due to the higher rating and the fact that new blaster coils are made in China and report a high fail rate. Using our Summit Racing account I came out less than 300$ for the whole deal.

Once wired up and the rev limiter set to 6,500 I started it up. Immediately we noticed the idle was smoother and it fired up immediately. Taking it down the road the car accelerated more smoothly and seems to be living very happy. Under boost it certainly pulls harder and annihilated the tires through first. I was pleasantly surprised by this.

Additionally we finally got the wipers working thanks to a new wiper motor and bushings. All in all, this was a good weekend for the old Lancer. Minus the shifter linkage issue of course.
