I’m not much of a gamer, but free is free. It has the controller, Chromecast Ultra and a power supply with Ethernet. I just gave my 2nd generation Chromecast to my folks so that they can stream from my Plex server so I needed a replacement. Maybe I can use the controller elsewhere, or maybe sell it. It seems like a solid piece, and I’m hoping that a computer will recognize it as a standard HID controller.

This, in addition to a Nest Home mini speaker, were freebies from Google for being a YouTube premium subscriber. No commercials, free gadgets and tons of music for $11.99/mo? It feels like a bargain.

I've had Premium for a long time and they've never given me random neat things! (Though I'm pretty content with the no-ads and music)

Craigslist will push me, and I'll say no; read my lips: no new projects.

Right, 11.99 a month doesn't sound like free to me. For commercial free music? My 5 tuned channels on free Pandora have maybe an ad an hour. I get BoTs from the public library or LibriVox. And stuff is stuff; you sound like you're trying to find a use for these...

@whoistheleader Every now and again they offer free stuph to Premium subscribers. They don't seem to come out and tell you - you have to find the deals. I think I found the Nest Home Mini deal on Slickdeals.net and the Stadia deal was found on Reddit.

Word of mouth seems to be the way, and I'll do my part to share these deals here when I find them.

@mm54 For the price I'd be happy with no commercials and the music, especially with all of the smart speakers I have around the house. They don't seem to come out and tell you when they're giving stuph away - you need to find the deals. Slickdeals and Reddit have been my sources for the last two., but I will always share here when I find something that others in our little club might like.

@barnie YouTube premium is $11.99/mo, and to me it's worth it to avoid the commercials and get access to tons of music. Yeah, indirectly I guess I'm paying for these gadgets, but there are plenty of people out there that are happy with what they get for $11.99, myself included. I wouldn't feel bad about paying that per month even without the freebies.

My home is set up with plenty of smart devices thanks to a killer deal I got on a Nest thermostat through my power company - it's normally $250, I got it for $80 with a free Google Home Mini, plus I get $25 back from the power company every year. With all of this automation installed the Nest Home mini went to work immediately. And I really liked my Chromecast, but needed a replacement since I just gave mine to my parents so that they can watch programs from my Plex server which is 1,800 miles from them. The gaming controller part of this kit, as well as the gaming service, isn't of much value to me but I will get plenty of use out of the Chromecast itself.
