This should be fun. Got it yesterday, after Lego warned me that it was on backorder and I probably wouldn't see it until February. We've gotten these Christmas sets for the last eight years or so, or maybe since the first one. I don't remember. It was originally intended to be a family project, but I usually end up building it. And that's fine with me. I'll try to take some pictures of the entire Lego Christmas village once I get it set up.

Love it. We just put our family order in yesterday (I’ve even got Mrs. addiction hooked now).

Awesome! We're thinking of buying that one and taking it apart every year, and then putting it back together. The kids and I all love Lego, and my wife is starting to get into it as well.

@shop-teacher I tried storing them in a box after Christmas, but it's impossible to do it without the sets breaking and becoming hopelessly mixed up. As it is, there are fiddly bits that have gone missing or are in the wrong place. Last year, I cleaned off some shelves in my closet so I could store them there. If you have the room, it's a much better solution. With sets like these, though, I would not recommend complete disassembly. There are TONS of tiny pieces that would be a nightmare to take apart and then to keep separate.

So far, she’s got the paleontology set, the lunar lander, and has the Hogwarts astronomy tower coming.

@davesaddiction I think our retirement is tied up in Legos. We have. so. many.

@ttyymmnn Ever sell old sets? We never have, but seems like a decent idea (if you keep everything and keep it together - very challenging!).

@davesaddiction Never have. I know people can made decent money doing that, especially if you have the original minifigs. It amazes me how the price of resale Lego is driven by the minifigs. Without them, the sets sell for half price.

Holy shit, it was so much work to get that set this year. Picked mine up yesterday after they were finally restocked here and they sold out again immediately.

And my holiday sets are very carefully placed in a plastic tub that slides under my bed and stays there. So far no major calamities...the cats do more damage when they’re set up for the season.

I ordered mine at the beginning of November, only to be told that it was OOS and would not be delivered in time for Xmas. So I was very pleasantly surprised when it showed up. Lego has been really stressed out by the Covid, and I guess they're only just starting to get caught up.

@ttyymmnn the resale market is obscene, we wanted some Scooby Doo stuff for Halloween but it's out of production so the resellers were asking $400 just for the mystery machine. We ended up going the Chinese knock-off route (review upcoming) and it was ~$15

@zipfuel My son is a Lego junkie, and he had his sights set on the Venator cruiser for a long time. We bought it for him for his 18th birthday, and yeah, it was $250. Crazy. Without the Palpatine and storm trooper minifies it was like $100.

It's a very nice set, I was just in the Lego store yesterday and I was tempted, but I had other spending to do!
