The electric car lobby... "ZETA"

So I was reading this:
https://jalopnik.com/electric-car-makers-have-finally-formed-a-lobbying-grou-1845731535And apparantly there's a new "Zero Emission Transportation Association"... and apparently it's currently made up of 28 companies that include Tesla (no surprise there), Lucid, Rivian and... wait for it... Uber.
See the list here:
https://www.zeta2030.org/news/clean-transportation-leaders-launch-zero-emission-transportation-association/What the fuck does Uber have to do with Zero Emission transportation? If anything, Uber is responsible for INCREASING transportation emissions overall and hasn't done squat with regard to making or selling BEVs... or developing/selling any of the tech behind it.
And conspicuous by their absence... GM, Ford, Nissan, VW, Hyundai/Kia and others who are actual sellers of BEVs... but of course are probably quietly wishing we could go back to "the good old days" when they didn't have to think about BEVS or hybrids.

I’m all for shitting all over Uber, but whether they increase or decrease emissions is up for debate. They definitely take people off mass transit, but they also take people off car ownership.
The ultimate goal is robot EV taxis, so it actually makes perfect sense.
-
Long term, Uber wants to run a fleet of electric autonomous taxis. People are expensive, even when you're under paying them.
-
Uber wants quite a lot of that sweet Universal Basic Income...

A vehicle doesn't need to be electric to be autonomous.
-
@manwich Certainly not, but long term for a fleet of city taxis, electric makes more sense.
