I'm ready to coach dodgeball

Because I have sack of wrenches.
I spent this afternoon helping my best friend clean out his father in law's garage. He passed away Saturday after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Big Bob, as we called him because my best friend is also named Bob and is thusly little Bob, was a gregarious guy who loved to cook and entertain. He also had a hobby/side-hustle repurposing and refinishing built in cabinets pulled out of old houses. We are fortunate to have a couple of his pieces that he sold us at a discount, in exchange for my going over there and helping do the labor-intensive stripping of the old finish. They are truly the gems of our collection of furniture.
I carted home a bunch of wood, and some of his tools. It was nice to spend some time with little Bob too. He's Major in the Army, and the last time I saw him was at his mother-in-law's funeral 14 months ago.
Life is good, but it is also fragile. Enjoy your time with your loved ones. If you're so inclined, next time your drinking tequila, pour a little out for Big Bob.

@shop-teacher rest in peace big bob
sorry for your loss mate -
At first, I totally read that as “Dogeball”...
-
@shop-teacher Damn. Your comment about life particularly hits home as that tool collection looks a lot like mine would in that situation.
-
@vincentmalamute To be fair to Big Bob, they were in a 3-drawer tool chest. Someone in the family wanted the box, but not the tools.
-
@farscythe Thanks mate.
-
@saracen such ball, so doge...

I figured. I meant that I started out with in the late 70s with a 350 piece Craftsman tool set. His tools look like we bought the same Craftsman set.

They usually are.

I have some Mountain Lightning in the fridge, the 69¢ equivalent to Mountain Dew... here's to Big Bob.
-
@vincentmalamute Gotcha. It's a total mishmash. Most of it is vintage Craftsman. There's some Snap On too, but also a lot of random crap.

Yeah

I spy a Bonney wrench alongside a craftsman open ended ratchet wrench! Quite the eclectic collection on those 2 ends of the spectrum
-
@zaphod-s-heart-of-gold Yeah, there is some weird old crap in there too. I think I saw a few Powercraft sockets (Montgomery Ward's brand), and there's a janky Japanese ratchet with an enormous head in there too. I'll definitely be making some tool posts as I go through them.
Of course, there is also a brand new Crescent brand 10mm combination wrench, still in the package.

"Open in case of emergency"
All jokes aside, I'm sorry for your loss.

LOL!
Thanks. And Big Bob would appreciate that joke
