Why is this so goddamn true?!

@skyfire77 that green shoe one always bugged me. Why ze germans have to have a light to tell you to press the brake to move the automatic trans out of park is beyond me. Nobody knows what the icon means, it's pointless.
-
@skyfire77 yep. And if Iām standing up to pee in the middle of the night, all those lights flash. (I learned this is called post micturation syncope)
-
Can't personally identify, but sounds like another argument for staying in bed.

@chariotoflove Beautiful reply!

Couldn't help myself.

Well why not eat a lot of the hottest hot sauce you can find so this will also be relevant:
-
@carsoffortlangley And miss the opportunity to add another pointless little electronic part that can fail? You clearly don't understand the mindset of German engineers.
-
@skyfire77 isn't is something about blood pressure?

yeah. Usually your nervous system is incorrectly triggering the wrong nerves and lowering your blood pressure. Vasovagal syncope. I'm a doctor and post-micturition syncope is a new one to me!
-
@manwich Yeah, don't even need "hot" hot sauce for that, I have a low threshold for capsaicin.
-
@skyfire77
You old!I have a really low resting HR and bp so I have to take it easy getting up. I haven't fallen/blacked out but I've come really close to eating shit a few times. Otherwise got all the old man creaks, pops, snaps, weird pains outta nowhere randomly. Good times.
-
@skyfire77 I can relate!

Because the legal fraternity of a certain nation who shall remain nameless dragged a certain German car manufacturer through hell a few decades ago due to the fact that too many of their citizens were too gormless to tell the difference between go and stop pedals, and ze Germans now strongly suspect that those same citizens (or the next generation thereof, since the originals are dead by now) are also too gormless to tell the difference between "pedal pressed" and "pedal not pressed" and would therefore drag German car manufacturers through hell again were it not pointed out to them in neon lights that the gearshift doesn't work because the safety interlock they themselves are to blame for is doing its gottdammt job?

@vincentmalamute Here ya go! https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/vasovagal-syncope/expert-answers/micturition-syncope/faq-20058084
Basically. Stop drinking so much!

@skyfire77 I've got bradycardia, and my resting pulse is around 44. It happens to me all the time. If I stand up too quickly, my blood pressure can't always keep up. I know it's bad when I get up too quickly, feel dizzy and start getting tunnel vision. Usually I can gracefully collapse.

Is it an underlying condition or are you incredibly fit?
-
@vincentmalamute The bradycardia runs in my family and is a health issue. However, I'm also an amateur endurance athlete. A typical weekend jog for me is 20 - 22 miles with 1500 - 2000 feet of climb. I've run over 100 marathons and ultramarathons so far. I'm getting old and slowing down. These days, I only run 25 - 35 miles a week. I live in a hilly area, so there can be 2,500 - 6,000 feet of climb over those miles.
15 years ago, I was much more competitive. My resting pulse rate was in the mid 30s. My doctor at the time was warning me I might need a pacemaker to bring my pulse up. I'm still at risk of needing a pacemaker to raise my pulse when I get older.

!! Yes, very fit people often fall outside of normal medical parameters. BMI, heart rate for example. A mid 30's HR would certainly get my attention though!

Also !! You're one of those nutcases!
I wish I had even a littl e bit of your atheleticism.

Exercise is my stress relief, and I have a very stressful job. It's a good job and rewarding, but there is nothing like a good hard run to relax. My group is understaffed right now and that's led to more stress/running.

Better than my solutions. For my stressful job, I went with alcohol and junk food. Early retirement was the eventual solution.
