Football Teams And Their Cars.
Taylor Martin last edited by Taylor Martin
WARNING: this is a picture heavy post... and a long post... and a pointless post, but that's to be expected.
I know it's not football season, but that may make it the perfect time to take a look at every fanbase at it's most important level: how they decorate their cars.
Now, I'm not talking spray paint and $5 flags duct taped to the windows, I'm talking professional jobs that embody the team on real cars (no Forza skins if I can help it. No F1/Nascar Either, as those aren't made by fans). Why am I doing this? Simple. I made a quick joke on @ttyymmnn's DOTS post and fell into a rabbit hole. So far, it's incredibly interesting to see the types of vehicles repping certain teams.
Some may have more variety than others, but I'll try to include at least one per team. We'll go alphabetically, as to keep things fair, starting with the:
Get it? CARdinals... Ha!
Here's the fan responsible for this car! 90% certain the rims are the exact same as the previous car.
As seen in many 4th of July Parades. This same fan also owns an Orioles Plymouth.
Big Bills Truck. And as an added bonus:
Absolutely phenomenal colors if you ask me...
But all good things must be balanced out with... less good things...
Not a lot of good photos of this monster, but holy moly. Bear down.
This team has a couple of good ones, starting with:
The article tacked to this is bold enough to call it sadness on wheels, but if I were a Bengals fan, I'd be mesmerized.
Stripy... but what else are you supposed to do when your mascot is a tiger?
Lastly, a Bengal Beetle:
Need I say more?
Yes actually, I do, because holy moly these are cool.
And here's one I found on the internet. Similar theme here: American car with big rims.
There are enough Cowboys Cars to start a car club...
Alrighty, we're gonna stop at this tailgate-transformer... moving on!
The Broncos Bronco, which sold on BAT for nearly $50k!
Also this, which comes completely out of left field.
The old, American iron...
...and the new. after all, it's Detroit.
Green Bay Packers
This is the car that started this rabbit hole:
The Packers Packard, which I love dearly (spoiler alert, I'm a Packers fan).
Also have the Cheese Head Car. Quite lovely indeed.
There's this mean, green machine, though it's technically for a dealership. And then we have...
Oh... Talk about diehard...
A good ol' fashioned work truck.
Seems pretty Texan to me.
And there's this dynamic duo as well. A motorbike for a two-wheeled Oppos.
Sadly it's not a Dodge, so it isn't a Colts Colt.
Well, you have a Jacksonville Hummer...
And a slightly frightening Jacksonville Cadillac. But no Jacksonville Jag.
Sad Jag noises.
Kansas City Chiefs
I unironically kinda like this. No team bias either, this is just neat.
This, not so much...
Now that's the ultimate tailgating rig.
Los Angeles Chargers
A double missed opportunity here as well. There no Dodge Charger for the Chargers.
There is a Volkswagen Bus though...
And a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis (according to the internet... don't quote me on it).
There's even this thing... but no Charger... bummer.
Los Angeles Rams
Boom. The Ram Ram.
You know, considering LA has two football teams, maybe one of the teams could've chose a color other than blue and yellow... though it is a good color scheme, I'll give them that.
Okay, this is pretty hot...
My lord look at the DONK on this thing... Those rims could send someone into a trance.
Correction: these rims could send you into a trance... interesting livery towards the back. Why the dip like the paint is being page-turned?
This is perfect.
This is less perfect, but could've been bought for 4 grand back in 2014... missed opportunity.
And then a few old trucks for your time:
Again, rad color scheme.
New England Patriots
There's this monstrosity...
As well as a Patriots armored truck, to protect Tom Brady from all the people who hate him (I included, now I can be a NE fan in peace... yes my football preferences are strange. It's Patriots by blood/birthplace and Packers by choice... that's a long story for another post).
Still, not great car options.
New Orleans Saints
Oh yeah, I dig it.
Less digging to be done here, but it's cool the headlamp cover matches.
Lastly, a Merc, which I'm shocked made the list (though this is technically a dealer car and breaks the rules, but its still odd that someone would paint a Merc... for football).
New York Giants
Now that's a fun little FJ.
Now that's a Giant van.
A very low quality image of a city car... since there's that city in New York... I think it's called New York City...
Don't ride this guy's rear or you'll get tackled.
New York Jets
I... This can't be real... Can it? There's only the one photo...
That's a bit more realistic.
While it's not super decked out, it was only a matter of time till a PT Cruiser showed up in my search.
And on a slightly unrelated note:
Not affiliated with the Jets (I don't think), but it has the same colors and is called an "old school" PT Cruiser... yikes...
Oakland (LA) Raiders
...many evil ratrods...
As well as this bus...
And this truck...
And this total tarmac scrapper. I dig the energy Raiders cars give out. It's chaotic. It's menacing. It's awesome!
There's been a distinct lack of wagons through this exploration, so it's good to see a bit of representation.
Plenty of vans on the list though, but vans do make sense. This one is quite clean.
And then there's this eagles van. It's a van made of eagles... no clue if they're an Eagles fan though...
Let me make one thing clear: I do not like the Steelers...
But I can get behind these Steelermobiles as they've been dubbed.
I get Chick Hicks vibes looking at this one.
What car is this? Genuine question. I dig the white walls/wheels.
Move over Jets, there's a new PT Cruiser in town... the Steelers color pallet works well, but that's all they credit I'll give them...
San Francisco 49ers
But two 49ers Hummers!
As well as this beauty (looks wonderful in red).
What may possibly be the world's only red-walled set of tires...
Yeah, the truck is cool, but the shirt is cooler!
Another "why is this on the list:" an actual friggin Ferrari...
I don't know who this Seahawks fan is, but I'd advise against wearing an opposing team's uniform around them...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
That's a trainwreck with a plate that screams suspicious...
There's this nice interior, though there are no pictures of the car it belongs to...
And this is worst bit of Photoshop I've ever seen. Not great cars from a team that just won the Superbowl. Also, screw you for knocking the Packers out of the Superbowl you @%^$er's... alright... I got it out of my system... still stings...
Papyrus font... Interesting choice...
My favorite dragster so far. Look at that tub!
While it's not a fan car, I'm certainly a fan of it. There's a whole lot going on, and it's all radical.
Alright, last team:
Washington Football Team
Another Hummer for the list.
As well as this well done Honda... odd... there haven't been any Hondas on this list yet, have there?
A truck so long it extends right off the page.
Our second three wheeler of the list.
And a Chevy HHR which I actually kinda dig in two-tone with white walls... the colors do make it look like Ronald McDonald's family vacation car, but the idea is sound.
Now, a lot of you probably zoomed through this, straight the comments, ready to say **"Taylor! How the actual hell can you like some of these? Cars are being butchered left and right!" And you're right, some of these cars were absolutely massacured.
But when you look at these not as cars, but works or art that bring smiles to those who share a similar passion, it makes them a little easier to understand. They're expressions of people, and I think that's rad. Sue me!
This took most of the afternoon, a couple hours actually... boy... if I put this kind of energy into other things I'd be a much more impressive person... but here we are, looking at odd paintjobs on cars.
Hope you enjoyed this little exploration. Who would you root for? Which would you drive? And which ones do you see as wretched sins plaguing the earth?

My favorite Cardinals car, showing his support for the birds.
Also, who are the Oakland Raiders?

No, this is actually very on-brand.
I think the Raiders and Dolphins are the clear winners here, although the Dolphins have an unfair advantage, what with the gulf livery and all.

@taylor-martin I need to go through my pics. A few years ago I was at a dealership in southwest Denver and found a Honda Ridgeline that was traded in and it had a ton of poorly airbrushed Broncos art on it. I'm a massive fan of the Broncos, and I'll never understand why anyone would turn their car into a rolling billboard for their team. The most I have right now is a little plastic Broncos badge on the back of my car. Before that, I had a plastic license plate frame on my truck that I didn't even pay for. It was left at my house by Xfinity when they were trying to drum up business in my neighborhood.

College football would be a lot harder but with one obvious choice.
Also, no Raiders themed Dodge Raider?

@taylor-martin I'm digging some of these actually, getting racecar vibes. Bengals baja bug and the ravens classic hotrod/pimpmobile being my favs.
@dipodomysdeserti I just copied the names from a list, and they were called Oakland... odd...
@aestheticsinmotion Raiders cars carried a certain energy that none of the other teams could rival... except maybe the browns in their big, dog bus.
@whoistheleader I think you have the coolest college mascot regardless. And I haven't the energy to do college football, that's a lot of teams.

@taylor-martin The cars of the raiders are the absolute best IMHO.
Ah, the offseason

I'll be looking for the royalty check for using my photo.

I may be (totally am) biased, but the Browns have the best strategy: One designated driver, 66 designated drunks.
Now if they could only carry that level of thinking to their game...

@taylor-martin This is a good list.
Also I kinda like the Washington HHR. Do I need to seek medical attention?

Carolina needs more Crown Vics (because Panther platform)
Atlanta- no Ford Falcon?
Cincy- There was actually a '68 Charger Bengal edition, but they're kinda too rare to leave in a stadium lot.
Dallas/Houston- wasn't there an F150 Texas edition?
Chargers- the internet can't tell the difference between a Crown Vic and a box Impala? Sad.
New England- Needs a Jeep Patriot, because what else are they good for?
NY Jets- Muntz Jet? Good luck finding one.
Philly- AMC and later Chrysler made a whole line of Eagles for youse guys. Disappointed.
Seattle- Hudson Hawk?
Tennessee- Nissan Titan, obviously
Most of the cars on this list aren't hard to find. Fans need to step up their game.

There's another Seahawks truck in my neighborhood, I should try to get a picture of it to add to the list...
@old-busted-hotness A whole lot of missed opportunities for sure.
