@farscythe I once broke a chain 1500' vertical down the back side of a ski resort. Had to walk 1500' back up and ride the 3000' vertical down the other side without the chain which is way more awkward than I would have imagined.

You're gonna carry a chain rivet tool in your patch kit from now on, eh? Even a short chain will let you pedal home..
Chain is the most important part of the driveline. Tear off a rear changer and you can shorten the chain to still work on a decent gear. Chain tools only weigh a few ounces any more. Always carry one.
@barnie eh I just walked back home grabbed the spare bike and turned up fashionably late
I love shorter work days

I wonder what happened in Oppo's Less Surprising News today?
@AkioOhtori has a poorly running Jaguar.
@CB has a husky that likes eating mouldings
@Jawzx2 has cute sheep that truly enjoy all facets of home decoration
Oh and @farscythe finally broke his heinously neglected bicycle chain on his even more heinously neglected bicycle...

@farscythe Hate to say it, but that chain looks a little... undermaintained
@facw lol one way to put it
It was pretty much worn out when salt season started
I've pretty much ignored it since as it's part of a pile of parts I'm replacing anyway
Soon as I have the money that is...gonna be s few weeks yet
@silentbutnotreallydeadly i do owe my bike an apolegie or three...its been the worst victim of my rona related pay cuts...

@farscythe Today’s lesson: chain breakers are cheap and small. Also, as long as there is gravity, it could be worse.
Could be worse: you could be riding a brake less fixie.
