New ski gear
It only took into my late 30's to get into skiing, and now into my lower-mid 40's I'm acquiring my own gear. Last season I got boots, yesterday went and bought my own helmet.
Smith Mission. Bright red because my wife says she can never find me on the mountain. Trying to determine where to place the Oppo sticker.
We finally felt comfortable scheduling a late season ski trip, heading to Breckenridge in late April. Renting a house right on the gondola line so we can minimize interactions as much as possible. I know the snow won't be the best, but it will be better than no skiing.
This will also be my first Turo rental. Took the advice on here (though unfortunately I forget who posted it) to go with someone who has multiple vehicles, thus treating it more like a business than just a passing fancy. $110/day for a 4WD Yukon XL versus the lowest I could find at rental company of $170/day. With my wife and 4 kids age 10-14, I need that size and prefer the peace of mind of AWD.

@houstonrunner Nice. Hoping to pick up a new helmet on some end of season discount. Though it's slightly tricky since I'm right on the edge of fitting in a medium (what I wear now), and I'd like to avoid going up to a larger size. Got a Smith Camber last year, and it was just a little too tight (though the bigger issue was that Amazon sent me the non-MIPS version when I ordered the MIPS version, so it went back).
@facw End of season discounts are already here in Texas. This was 20% off. Went to REI first because I have $50 gift card, but they had literally shipped out all of the ski gear. We do have a Sun and Ski in Houston, and luckily it was 1/4 mile away.
@houstonrunner Spring skiing is the best sometimes. You can get lucky with a late season storm and the crowds are thinner because everybody is focused on fishing/biking/hiking and other spring activities instead. Plus warmer weather sure makes everybody happier and apres ski at an outdoor restaurant with a late sunset is just wonderful. Unless it's fresh powder, spring snow is better than stale winter snow anyways. Just make sure you've got a good coat of high temp wax!
@wrong-wheel-drive I'm hoping so. Trying not to check the 10 day forecast in Breck every hour....
