Post with alternate thumbnail size
-
Test post with 250 pixel size thumbnail
Also testing image compression - uploading an image that is 5.32 mb in size
-
It shrunk it to 54K - compression is turned up too high
-
Trying with same photo again with compression set to 80
-
Can you choose the size of a thumbnail or is it automatic?
-
@rallydarkstrike It's something set on the server-side. I turned it down to 200x200 as even 250 seemed a bit large

Is there a function similar to the Kinja-equivalent 'Like Star' for posts and comments?
And a way to disable that 120-second timer between posts?
-
@jminer Take three with setting at 90
-
@jminer Test at 95
-
@jminer Test at 98

Can you crop an upload as we did in Kinja Land?
-
@rusty-vandura I don't remember seeing that. I think it's an upload what you got in the file. Maybe something that can be fixed later.
-
@rusty-vandura Pretty sure the upload here, is just 'whatever the file is when you go to upload it and that's it'.
...so you'd have to crop the file beforehand. Maybe there is a plugin or something to add that functionality to NodeBB, but not sure. I actually signed up on the NodeBB forum to ask questions and look for plugins that we may find useful, but can't post there yet as I haven't yet received their verification email. Keep an eye out, it may get added at some point or something.
That being said, as with @jminer , I also don't even remember that being a thing on Kinja? 0_o

@rallydarkstrike Yeah, it happens to be. The thumbnail images were 16:9 and they had a cropper that made it easy to set exactly what you wanted the crop to be. One of the things I fancy myself as being is a photographer...
-
I'm still unclear on how to get a post thumbnail happening.

Click the four squares in the edit bar. Then link or upload a photo. Unlike Kinja, it doesn't have to be the top photo in your post. At least for now, the system crops it square. And unless they fixed it, if you link to a huge picture it will cover the whole front page.
