**lopnik doesn’t work any longer. So, Foodhyphen maybe? WTF does one eat in restaurants if one wants low carbs?
-
Answer might be salads, but modern salads are 1200 calories.
This is day 4 of low(ish) carb diet for me. I worked out this morning, used 540 calories. I am still not hungry so I had zero food. I am working with ~2000 calories for today, so I’d say I can eat 600-1000 calories for this combined meal to leave room for dinner and snacks throughout the day.
My mom is coming over for lunch. Recommend a good restaurant meal for my fat ass? She loves Italian, and I do as well, I just don’t think pasta is in the books.

Food-lock.
-
I kind of like hyphen food as a term.
-
@musashi66 I'm going to keep using Kinja'd! forever...
But seems like that's not really a thing here.
-
@musashi66 Steak, obviously.
-
@carsoffortlangley I can work with that. But we've been calling this place a hyphen, not lock, not sure if it will catch on.
-
@ita97 So HypenFood instead of FoodHypen?

Kinja'd is an accepted verb at this point.

I think salads still work, just need to hold or go lighter on the additives like dressing, croutons, etc. Otherwise, any meat + veg dish will do.

Without sounding crass, grilled meats is something we do a lot at home. Wife bought a whole damn cow, and I make a mean steak. I want something I can't easily replicate at home. Maybe BBQ??

Go to a diner, get an omelette or eggs & bacon or whatever.

I can live without the croutons, but a salad with light dressing is just blah. MY palette is still not used to that. Meat and veggies is a good option, as long as it isn't something I can cook at home easily as well.

That is my go to breakfast option, but it'll be lunch time by the time she arrives. I am weird like that, and can't imagine eating breakfast for lunch.

A bò bún salad then.
-
Whiskey

I went low carb a few years back to rising blood sugar levels. I'm not a big guy so I didn't want to lose 35 lbs (!) but that (unfortunately) happens when you're mostly eating vegetables.
I can't add much to the options given already. So I'll just say, keep at it! Now, I let myself go every once in a while especially if I do an all day bike ride.

I love that stuff. Love love love it, especially at Top Pho in Denver where they have an option of spicy grilled beef strips. Best Vietnamese meat option I ever tried. I am not sure that my mom would go for it. She's picky.
I just looked up BBQ and as long as you don't go crazy with the sauce or eat bread, its actually not that bad. I can probably have 50 grams of carbs for this meal.

That is dessert for tonight, while I am pondering about how I missed eating all the leftover Halloween candy.

I used Drivewaylopnik and got chastised!
I still say we use lopnik. It'll be a reminder of our history.

I just stepped off the scale - 206.1. I am hoping to hit and maintain 200, and to work on getting down to 190, maybe even 185 if I can develop some really good eating habits. I was 173 when I moved to states and I had a 4-pack. Today, it is just a one-pack...
Veggies and meat are the best option. I just want a version that I can't easily cook at home, in a restaurant where my mom can find something she likes as well.

This is a modern website, we bury the history around here!

I can't imagine getting BBQ without sauce. @Shop-Teacher needs to chime in here so he can rant about condiments. (I guess BBQ sauce is not really a condiment)
I was only 175lbs (!) before I did a 180 on eating habits. Now I'm 140-145lbs and I think too skinny and lost muscle mass and strength. It's really hard to put on weight with mostly veggies though. So I'd think you should be able to reach your goals.
Those who forget history.... yada...

The only sauces that i eat with meat are mustard (the real one, not the thing with sugar and spices) or harissa.
And i don't even have any of those at home ; if i cook (this also applies to BBQs), i will make a wine and onions or scallot sauce with the meat and not need anything more. -

I fucking love cheese, but the vessels I use to stuff in my mouth are usually chips or similar
