Directions in Which Automotive Emblem Animals Face
-
Because these are the kind of things that matter to Opponauts. An exhaustive, but definitely not complete, list. Please let me know what I’ve missed. Looking for logo or emblems only here; hood ornaments are excluded (that’s a whole separate list...). Credit to @scoob for sending me on this wild goose chase (in 2017).

If direction varied over time, I used the most recent iteration.

I didn't see Abarth under A and I was so, so ready to be internet upset. But then you made my day.

Note that the crown's an 'M' and the head is an 'R' and the wings spell the roman numeral "II" (2)

This is fantastic!
I am of the opinion all automotive logos should face left or forward. Never right. Just looks better.
Question: Which way does this face?
Oh, and this one faces forward:
-
-
Thanks guys - looks like I can no longer edit the post, unfortunately...
-
@whoistheleader The Vauxhall Griffin body is to the left, but looking over it's shoulder to the right.
-
@svend So it is facing left but looking to the right? That's just confusing but I guess they can't be too close to Peugeot.
-
@whoistheleader Well Peugeot is a lion.
Vauxhall's is a Griffin. Legs of a lion, head of an eagle. -
@svend Yeah but that's still 50% right.
-
Opel Manta's* manta ray - Left and right, depends on which side you look.
-
Peugeot's lion reminds me of the Thriller dance, and makes it hard to remember sometimes which way it traditionally faces
-
@davesaddiction THIS is the hard hitting journalistic integrity I’m looking for!!!
I gots your AMC Eagle head logo answers as well as every other logo on the car answers you seek! I ventured out to the garage in the cold in the middle of a conversation to go immediately solve this pressing matter.
Left AND right! They both face forward!
And SO heavily logo’d! -
-
@whoistheleader That's not an animal... but I added it anyway.
-
@onlytwowheels Thanks for all these! I had some, but you caught I few I didn't. Added.
-
@svend Such a great logo.
-
@urambo-tauro Yes!
-
@sn4cktimes With bonus squirrel!
