She did it

My daughter picks up her car tomorrow, details:
She got the dealer to throw in a remote starter too, cuz Montreal
-
Excellent! She will love it.
-
Can I live in Montreal too? I’ll drive a Mazda. Hell I’d drive a Nissan Versa (which my phone keeps aptly correcting to “Nissan averse”)
-
@smobgirl Montreal has it's charms, and downsides. Why would you want to live there?
-
@smobgirl Es que vous parlez francais?
-
I love Canada in general but I adore Montreal. I don’t know. I walked a huge chunk of Montreal and Longueil when I was there for the F1 race and I just liked it.
-
@midengine Looks like it was specced smartly. Turbo is not necessary for normal day-to-day. Did she bother with AWD?
I also noticed that the GS doesn't have Nav. Does it come with AA/Carplay standard (which makes Nav obsolete)?
-
@smobgirl I respect that. Sometimes you just go to a place and it just 'clicks'! I was there in February and thoroughly enjoyed myself as well, with the exception of driving in the downtown core. Lots of hills, middle of winter, manual car O_O

I went to high school in Longueil, not the nicest area at the time. It's probably improved considerably. I do love Montreal but the things I'm not crazy about:
- winter. it's brutal
- summer is great, but humid. Mosquitoes and black flies.
- if you move there, your kids will be going to French school unless you can afford private school.
- The health care system is a complete disaster. My daughter is a nurse
- Taxes. When I lived there I paid 52% income tax, 15% sales tax, school tax, welcome tax when you buy a home, property tax
I'm far better off in the Seattle area, but I do miss all the charms. Some of the best restaurants in the world and the nightlife is over the top. The joies de vivres is very much a thing.
-
@jarrett she got the 4WD and the required snow tires, not sure about the infotainment system. Personally I don't care for the screen, look like an afterthought to me.
-
@poor_sh Easy champ
-
@midengine lol someone was going to say it.

You have a clever phone with a better sense of humor than I do.

Why drive an averse Versa in Canada when you can have a Micra up there?
-
I'm sure it will serve her very well for 200k miles (if she wants it to).
-
@midengine What? High taxes and bad health care?? You don't say.... /s
I lived in a socialist country for 19 years, so I understand.
-
Probably the best looking inside and out CUV in the class. Too bad you have to commit your unborn child and spec out the two most expensive trims to get the Turbo. 180-ish HP engines in cars that size are not a lot of fun over 6000 feet in Colorado.
-
@musashi66 Fortunately at ground floor they as quick as any SUV has any reasonable right to be. I remember being pleasantly surprised that it felt a bit quicker than my 3.
*Referring to the FWD version
-
You flatlanders have it good...
-
Good choice.
-
-
Lol wonder is Porsche dropped 5 cuz they put turbos in fucking everything
-
@davesaddiction oh shit Tesla dropped to the bottom and all the fan boys are talking about how their cars are "the most reliable car I've ever had and I've had more than 1 car!"
-
@poor_sh Ha! I'd really like to see stats on what the issues are for Tesla (all of them, actually). They should really differentiate between mechanical issues and electrical (non-critical like infotainment) issues.
