Test Post
-
Seems pretty decent so far! Though weirdly, when uploading an avatar image, it only allows JPEG files, but not the vastly more common JPG extension 0_o....any way to fix that?
I'm not minding this so far...? I guess hosting would be an issue, but with a bit more tweaking, this wouldn't be bad...? Everything seems to work OK...
The only seeing the image you've added in the 'preview' thing will take a bit of getting used to....
Have a test Trabant and a ZSD Nysa!
Quite liking the category thing!
EDIT - How does one set a thumbnail for a post on 'Home' ?
-
@rallydarkstrike To add the thumbnail hit the four-squares button. You need it as a link or a file on your computer, which you can upload when composing the post - it doesn't let you just paste in the image like in-post which is kind of unusual but not really a big deal to me (I'm usually uploading from my computer anyway, personally - though I know I'm in a minority that doesn't live on a smartphone).
-
I was able to upload a thumbnail as a .jpg, it didn't balk at it.

@jminer I'm running on Linux on my laptop where I had test it (my desktop PC has Win10), so maybe that is part of it.
This is the folder where my avatar is, as you can see....jpgs.
And this is what I see when I am in the 'choose file' window for uploading an avatar.
If I change any one of those files' file extensions to 'jpeg' rather than 'jpg' then it becomes visible to select! Weird!
-
That must be a strange linux quirk, it works fine on my win10 desktop.
What happens if you change the all supported types drop down to all file types. Can you grab a jpg and it work?
-
@jminer I've never had it happen in any other instance on any other website....so much be a quirk of Linux and NodeBB specifically, weirdly!
Doesn't seem to happen when uploading images to a post or comment though.....only SPECIFICALLY the avatar, lol.
TEST OF MASS UPLOAD OF PICTURES:
-
@rallydarkstrike That loaded in my browser way quicker than I expected.
-
Honestly yeah, I am finding NodeBB works phenomenally fast!
-
@jminer Concerning avatar images: neither .jpg or .jpeg worked for me on a mac. a .png worked fine though. So it might be how the avatar uploader deals with different O/S's?
-
@sn4cktimes I don't have a mac to test, but I'll pull out a linux machine and see if I can replicate the problem
