I've picked up both games. My son took an interesting in beamNG.drive and bought it. Planning to get some mods to we can play together. Picked up Automation as well just in case I feel the need to want to participate. Got a bunch of other games I play with people already. But at least I got the option to participate in the future.

@Cé-hé-sin Also, from a recent Jay Leno video, apparently his Doble was completely trashed from running the wrong oil -it seems his previous supplier was no longer available, so he bought steam oil from another vendor who swore it met the specs for Doble, and it didn't. Dobles run at much higher pressures than normal steam engines, so they need a specially formulated steam oil, and this wasn't it.

All the internal components were totally destroyed. Fortunately, he has his own machine shop and team of experts, so they're totally remaking everything themselves, otherwise, the car would have been permanently non-operable. Even in the 1920s, I'd imagine buying a new cylinder for a Doble off the shelf wasn't really possible.

@danny-korecki I honestly don't have a lot of time for gaming either as I work two jobs (substitute teaching and computer repair/tech tutoring), but @ItalianJobR53 and I do find time to play every few days for an hour or so....maybe once or twice a week 🙂

I had no idea that was ever a thing. One of the things about the traditional 4 stroke gasoline engine is how incredibly refined the technology is. It's been developed and developed again then developed some more for 100 years and it really shows with how reliable, efficient, and cheap to make we've made them. Even by the 1960s any new form if combustion engine would be starting from waaaaaaaaay behind to the point it would be difficult to make them up to the standards of the consumer. I really wish the rotary had got a few more chances but they didn't have enough time to mature the technology.
