@Cé-hé-sin Also, from a recent Jay Leno video, apparently his Doble was completely trashed from running the wrong oil -it seems his previous supplier was no longer available, so he bought steam oil from another vendor who swore it met the specs for Doble, and it didn't. Dobles run at much higher pressures than normal steam engines, so they need a specially formulated steam oil, and this wasn't it.
All the internal components were totally destroyed. Fortunately, he has his own machine shop and team of experts, so they're totally remaking everything themselves, otherwise, the car would have been permanently non-operable. Even in the 1920s, I'd imagine buying a new cylinder for a Doble off the shelf wasn't really possible.
