This is THE problem. Though it isn't helped when a dealer offers you a pitiful trade-in on a new car they openly admit will take months to be delivered.

Some friends want to replace their 260,000 kilometre but otherwise clean Mazda 6 wagon (dating from the mid-teens). Looked at a new Forester but the dealer said their was a 4 to 6 month wait and that their Mazda was only worth $1,500 as a trade in!
