@Bandit It's only within the last few years that I learned that starters and alternators were DIY rebuildable. Wish I'd known sooner... Since then, I've rebuilt a couple of alternators, and plan to do a starter at the next opportunity. I have encountered a few units that no one seems to make kits for, but am always checking for that option first now. It's a great learning experience and there's quite a lot of money to be saved!

Interesting that the floor and pan were cheaped out on. Maybe he had a shady mechanic doing the work and charging him? Maybe a dumb neighbor who helped out?

      Can't fathom that one, honestly.

Have you checked voltage at the pigtail which controls he compressor? Turn on AC and see if your module is commanding the compressor clutch to activate. This will cut your area of focus in half. Either the compressor clutch isn't engaging or the module or circuitry leading to compressor is bad, and you can go from there.

@facw center console buttons are your up/down, forward/back, and tilt. The bolster buttons are the inflator and deflators for the back rest lumbar bladders - this feature is broken on my car for both seats due to a common issue where the rubber diaphragm in the inflator motor drys out and cracks over time but it can be repaired using a bit of rubber cut out of common kitchen rubber gives. Then as a bonus you’ve got a toggle switch on the front of the seat frame that moves the back rest bolsters in and out for additional cornering support when desired. Lastly you have a manual lever on the front corner that controls the recline angle between the base and back rest. As a result of all this adjustability the seats are insanely comfortable.

      Sorry for butting in.
303 do a rubber seal protectant which is good.
Clean the rubber with an all purpose cleaner, wipe dry and then apply 303 using it's applicator head and wipe off any residue.

@Bandit Since I missed this post when it first went up - congrats. I also have recently C4'ed. Haven't posted that much on it, but it's an '84 Z51 coupe in Bright Silver Metallic with Graphite interior.

@ibRAD Ha! I loved owning my C4, but having been there and gotten the T-shirt I don't think I'd go back a second time. Mine was a one owner car with 55k when I bought it, so even starting with an almost perfect example I still ran into some of these issues.

For cheap vettes, I'd heartily steer people to early C5 cars. That ass may not be as good to look at, but I can't understate how much more modern of a car the C5 is. I think it's easy to forget on the later, desirable C4 cars that those roots under the fiberglass go back to a time when many a new car was still carbureted.
