@highlander i came here to say that's a 1990 300ZX turbo targa in what looks to be AH3 Cherry Red Pearl, but might be the lesser red. It's a nice spe, hard to tell if it's 2 or 4 doors, though sadly it is LHD.
@whoistheleader The Toyota and Honda were still pretty niche for at least a couple years, the Explorer had a lot of Ranger DNA I think, very trucky compared to modern FWD related models, and the Sidekick/Tracker was another trucky thing, no car DNA that I recall. Modern equivalents seem to be more like butch Camrys and Civics. When I think CUV, I think car-related.
re: Arteon, wrong car to launch in the US at this time, I wonder if they can be had in a sweetheart lease etc.
@fintail It did, launched pretty early in '01 as an '02 model, and was sold out and on waiting lists well into the Fall. I remember the financial press blasting and mocking DaimlerChrysler for what seemed to be more evidence of incompetence - right when they needed a good hit, they seemed to have one, and then couldn't make enough of them for it to actually help.
@whoistheleader Around town it was mid-20s. Pure highway the best was 34. Ours had the performance package which came with a limited slip. The later cars could be had with Brembos, but ours was a pretty early build. Anyway, it had an early track mode with no lift shift. It made a difference.
