@Sovande I liked NWA and listened to them (age 12-14) because it was so provocative, but they never really hit the mainstream the way OP is talking about. They struggled to get airplay.

But they (and 2LiveCrew) also helped pave the way for more leniency in mainstream music. If nothing else, becuase it was “see how much worse it could be?” from the parents and critics.

I also remember an episode of 'The West Wing', where CJ drives her dad's Volvo 240 sedan. And of course, there's Nic Cage's line in 'The Rock': "I drive a Volvo. A beige one." @jarrett Yup! Quite enjoyed Winback! I remember renting it fairly often! We had a lot of N64 games....Perfect Dark was the one we played most often, but we also had Goldeneye (of course!), Top Gear Overdrive, Top Gear Rally 2, Roadsters: Trophy, Armorines, The World Is Not Enough....probably one or two more I'm forgetting!

We rented Vigilante 8 and the Battletanx series a lot as well - great vehicle combat games! Lots of weapons to pick from, but each weapon in BT had a special function you could do with a combo and each weapon in V8 had like THREE special functions you could do with a combo....sticky missiles were my favorite!

I own a copy of Vigilante 8 now...the School Bus, Rattler and Pick-up Camper were my favorite vehicles 😄

I discovered and listened to so many new bands this year, my Spotify is just one massive hodge-podge of assorted indie pop and rock. Although a very large percentage of that is Jose Gonzalez, who is easily one of my new all-time favorites. His stuff is sooooo gooooooood...
